Sons and daughters, come and listen and let me teach you the importance of trusting and fearing the Lord. Do you want a long, good life? Then watch your tongue! Keep you lips from lying. Turn from all known sin and spend your time in doing good. Try to live in peace with everyone, work hard at it.
For the eyes of the Lord are intently watching all who live good lives, and he gives attention when they cry to him. Yes, the Lord hears the good man when he calls to him for help, and saves him out of all his troubles.

Doing good to your human brothers is good but that will not open the gates of heaven for you to enter if that is what you are counting on. For God judges the heart. Those who practice religion but have no true love of God and care little for his son Jesus Christ death on the cross as payment in full for our transgressions and sins, they are wasting their time.
God send His only son to die as payment for the sins of the world, no other payment can cover the amount of evil done on earth. As a son born of woman, with all the characteristics of a human, Christ paid the price, we benefit from that. Is a free ticket to a celestial home when our number comes up and we must depart the earth.
We change into our real bodies, our spiritual bodies. If we have followed the teachings of Christ and asked for forgiveness for our many sins and have accepted the Lord Jesus sacrifice then the gates of heaven are opened to receive us.
No man/women is holy no matter how good they are. They have not been given any authority to forgive the sins of his fellow human so that person can be admitted into the kingdom of God. No man can do such a task. Only God can forgive sins. You can forgive people who have hurt you and that benefits you because hate corrupts and eats away at the soul.
When a child dies before his awakening to evil, this child goes directly to paradise. No stops in between! As we grow older the day will come when we wake up to evil, that is the full knowledge of good and bad and consequences. That is why we must confess our sins and asked for forgiveness and accept the Lord's son sacrifice with an honest heart. Asking for forgiveness let us know, God already knows, what we have done, why we did it and the consequences of that deed. We must know and understand our transgressions . That applies to those people with full mental capacity to understand. Not everyone can fall into that category for we have many people who their brains have been damage either by sickness or just born that way. But God knows the heart and he judges accordingly.
When the Bible speaks of fearing God they are refering to honor, respect and reverance, not the kind of mortal fear that we all know and dread.
