What is a seal? A seal is a device engraved with a design used to stamp an impression, icon, hallmark, image or symbol on material, products or merchandise. What does it do? It serves to authenticate and to verify . We have all seen seals through out the world in merchandise we purchase daily. We as consumer trust the seal, "As the seal of aproval." This aproval can come from government agencies, trusted manufactures and the like.
God has set his own seal on Jesus Christ and believers are sealed unto him.
In the book of Revelation Chapter 7 from the Holy Bible: Verses : 1, 2, 3, 4

Then I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds from blowing.
And I saw another angel coming from the east, 'carrying the Great Seal of the Living God'. Anf he shouted out to those four angels who had been given power to injure earth and sea, "Wait! Don't do anything yet--hurt neither earth nor sea nor trees--until we have placed the Sealed of God upon the foreheads of his servants."
How many were given this mark? I heard the number it was 144,000 out of all the twelve tribes of Israel.
Brief:
4 angels are sent to earth. These 4 angels will be assigned to injured the earth and the sea. And they have the power to do so.
Another angel, a different angel, comes from the east (besides these 4 angels that are already position on the 4 corners of the world) , and this 5th angel tells the 4 angels to wait.
The 4 angels have to wait to do the their assigned work, until this 5th angel from the east, that is carrying the Great Seal of the Living God do his job. He has to place the Seal of God upon the foreheads of God's servants.
The 5th angel who comes from the east will only stamp, mark or seal those people who belong to God, "before" these 4 angels start hurting the earth and the sea.
How many people will be wearing the Seal of God. The answer is: 144,000 out of the 12 tribes of Israel.
