The price for believing in Him is high and it is going to be even higher as time marches on. Jesus has warned believers of the trials and gut wrenching suffering that the followers of Christ will have to endure. Believers will be subject to mockery, laughter, persecution, intolerance, hate mail, property damage, physical attacks, pranks of all kinds, alienation even from family members, or spouses, ridicule, segregation, prejudice at work, we will be passed for chances of improvements, higher positions, constant harrassments, you name it, imprisonment and even death.
Many Christians are been subject to some of these things now. They have been killed and put in prison by those who hate the word of God. In the time of the end of mankind, the tribulation, Christians will be delivered to the evil system by friends, family member and spouses. The world of lovelessness and lawlessness is upon us now. The God of our times is materialism, self, drugs, sexual pleasure of any kind, immorality of all kinds, money, power, fame, beauty of body. Kids are growing up without the knowledge of God because parents who profess to be Christians hardly go to church, study the bible or even teach their children God's laws. Is it any wonder why so many young one find themselves all alone. Easy pray for all kinds of perversity.
So many moral and religious leaders are fakes. They are wolves in sheep clothing as the bible calls them. There goal is not the kingdom of God but the kingdom of self, covered with greed and self exaultation. We have witness many of them fall into disgrace, even prison, as they are exposed for what they are. False prophets, leading those who seek out true faith into a lie of deception. Killing the hope and faith of early believers by disillutionment. These false prophets distort and twist God's word to accomodate illicit affairs and actions of their congregation. Their agenda is self, 'what is in it for me', as the saying goes. They don't care that by their tactics they are feeding those who don't understand of have very little knowledge of God's true word, secular and destructive morals.
To be a follower Of Jesus Christ is just that. Observe and learn from the way Jesus leaved, his teachings, his words, his love and compassion. Jesus could have been a very rich man. If he sold out and charged for miracles of healing and preaching. Yet, Jesus did not even had a place to sleep, a pillow to rest his head, a place to call home. He did not have a chest treasure were he hoarded all the goods given to him by his followers. He did not sale of to the kings and the powers of that era. When it came to clothing, his garments were not fancy, nor trimed with gold and precious jewels. Simplicity was his look. He did not drive an expensive chariot with horses that only a king could purchase.
If you want to know who is a true follower of Christ in the day of national TV evangelism, pay attention to their attire. Watch what they do more and and they say. Some of these so called preachers have their own airplanes, many houses, many fancy expensive cars, jewelry that only the rich can afford. All paid for by donations to their ministry or so called church, given by people who believe them and are not aware of their deceit. These so called preachers steal from the poor taxpayers struggling to keep food on their tables. They enjoy tax free money. If they can afford to purchase expensive gifts for themselves they can pay income tax.
