The name one receives at birth is for eternity. God calls each person by name. The name is the icon of the person. It demands respect as a sign of the dignity of the one who bears it. So, is the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a name that is sacred, holy. Using the name of God, Jesus Christ in a non revenrance fashion shows lack of respect and honor to our Creator. It is call blaspheming. It is a sin. It is braking the second of God's commandments. 'You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.' This 2nd commandment prescribes respect for the Lord's name.
The holiness of the divine name demands that we neither use it for trivial matters. Is not to be taken as an an oath. When taking an oath use your own name if it is required by law or trivial matter. God will not hold guiltless those who blaspheme his sacred name.
When you use the name of the Lord on an oath you are sinning against the most high our creator. Not honoring your oath is the same as perjury in a court of law because before hand you knew that you would not keep your word and that you were lying when you swore you would.
As Jesus Christ name is used all the time around the world as a common swear word it is revolting how little respect we humans have for him and his divine nature. It show how ignorant and blind we are to the reality of the Lord. You should not swear at all. Let your "Yes be Yes, and your No, be No." Adding the Lord's name in your common speach is a sin and it comes from the evil one.
The moment you die your spirit goes to the present of the Lord. There is decided were you are going. To put it in simple terms. If you are godly you will be in heaven if you are not then you do your waiting in a place where people like yourself will wait until the second judgement when 'your name' will be called to answer for your life deeds. Your name will not appear in the book of the living or saints that will be in paradise. Your name will be blotted out.

In brief look at it this way. How would you like for people to be using your name all the time for promises, oaths and any form of words of hatred, defiance, reproach and malice. You will object sooner or later. You would get fed up if you knew that your name is constantly on peoples mouth and is been misused. That you have given no consent to people to go ahead and lie, swear, make promises that would be broken or not in your name. It will be a reminder to the offended party that your name is worthless and that you the owner are a liar.
