"The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks in the midst of the seven gold lampstands says this: Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

"I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate the wicked; you have tested those who call themselves apostles but are not, and discovered that they are impostors.

I hold this against you: you have lost your first love.

What is going on inside the Christian faith movement in our present day churches is the same as it was in the past when John wrote the "Revelation" verses. I must say though some churches are true and honestly serving God . But others don't.  God is addressing the seven primary churches of the beginning of the Christian movement but also today's churches.

An abomination to God is the  religious compromising, bending of God's rules to accommodate certain influential or rich people. The mixing of paganism in useless and false rituals, calling them holy sacraments, installed by men and not God. Calling a man "Holy Father" when there is but one true "Holy Father" worshiping this impostors as if he was God in the flesh.
They are a self appointed God but are not holy nor do they deserve any worship. No mortal men/women can be called or given the title of saints, only God who sees the soul can do that. These are sinners no matter what high office they hold within their church.

To those churches who hold sacrifices and rituals that God had never ordered are considered as false as a three dollar bill. There is only one recognized sacrifice, and that is the death of Christ on Calvary and the spilling of  his precious blood.   So, nothing of this earth can top that.

Churches that allow sinning, or  are filled with dead worshipers who keep looking at the clock for the hour of the sermon to end, people sit in their pews with faithless, motionless expressions mouthing empty words though their lips are moving and hands are up praising the God of heaven, yet their hearts are dead and a dead mans corpse.  They go through the motions, make good imitations of the faith but are empty inside.
Do you think that God does not see you, will not judge you, will cast your good deeds into the fire to see if they measure up?

The self proclaim martyrs, if you have a contagious sickness that can infect other church members, why come to church?  Stay home, get well then come and worship in spirit and in truth.
To those who go to church with the purpose of looking for love. The love they seek is not a Christian love but a personal, self satisfying love. There is nothing wrong with falling in love with a free church member of opposite sex. But to fake the faith to obtain a romance is wrong. Do your date finding out of the church if a quick turbulent romance is what you seek.

To those who attend church as a fashion statement. Putting on their most precious attire in order to impress others and cause envy. In the house of God is good to dress the best way you can afford. Be decent, clean, and dignify.  But in all make sure your body is properly cover and not entice the opposite sex by showing flesh. God sees more than your flesh he sees your heart.

Social clubs, family gathering events, all in all are good and encourage good fellowship but too much of social clubbing and gathering takes away from what the church is "House of God", a place to lift up your heart and honor our living Savior.

"To the victor, who keeps to my ways until the end, I will give authority over the nations.''

Bible:  Book of  Revelation     Chapter 2 (Portions of it)

NOTE:  God forgive me for I too am guilty of the many things I have mentioned. Help me to see my poor sinful judgments and behaviors and do right by you.

Of course these things are happening now, we are in the "age of the fig tree" or the sixth seal, and all prophesy must be fulfilled in this age.

Though I wouldn't discourage anyone from going to church, even if they have a contagous sickness, perhaps they will hear what they need, and realize the Holy Spirit is not there, causing them to search elsewhere, and seek out the Spirit.

My Uncle was a Catholic priest, and he would get so angry because I would tell him that I would show up for Sunday mass wearing sack-cloth and flip-flops; I used to say that just to make him think about how people should dress for church, because God will not be offended by my presence, so why should he.

Good post!

Hello Hugh_Pizmehoff: Good points! I grew up a Catholic and I yet to get rid of some of the hang ups the church installed in my subconcious as a child. God does not care if you go in flip flops and sack clothes as long as you are searching for him with a clean heart. Concerning communicable diseases that was more for the people that play martyr. As in a work situation where people have sick days but come to work so others can fill sorry for them, but are infecting the rest. I see this in church a lot. It upsets me because I usually come down with their sickness. I know not fair to blame sickness on that one that showed up to church coughing and sneezing their eye balls out, yet it disturb the preaching, spread their germs and is very insensitive to others. Good reply though!
