 Prejudices

Even "Born again Christians" religious, atheists, free thinkers, agnostics all kinds of  people can harbor prejudicial thoughts that convert into attitudes toward fellow human beings. This early morning I was listening to the news on TV and they were speaking about a religious group, different race, culture, beliefs, dressing code, skin color that migrated from their country into Germany. This news were coming directly from Germany.

The segment was discussing how they were persecuted and because of who they were and how they stood out in the crowd do to holding fast to there ancestry and religion. Only a few spoke German. Many of them were denied jobs and of course found themselves depending on the German social economic help system. Many Germans resented their coming into there country and munching off the hard working German people.

As I was listening to the negativity and not favorable portrayal of these people I was thinking to myself "Good". I caught myself thinking like some of the populace in Europe regarding these people. "Good" that they were mistreated? I thought O my Lord, this is wrong. Is that not how the persecution of Jews driven by Hitler's Nazi regime started. First it was the Jews, then it added other races, and types of Germans that were considered inferior to the perfect German race. And that kind of cancer gave birth to more little cancer babies and it spread like wild fire. I took another world world war to bring it to submission.

I realized I was been prejudicial. Whom am I to be glad or accept that another human being is been single out for injustices. I asked God to forgive me for thinking that and to alert me when ever thoughts of that kind against my fellow being inhabitants of the same planet Earth came into my head. I must be on guard for out of thoughts comes attitudes and out of attitudes comes actions.  Yet, I would have never called myself a prejudice person, yet there I was, thinking "Good" about these unfortunate people on the receiving end of hate. There is not a single person upon the face of the Earth who has not thought, harbor, prejudicial thoughts against their brother human. Only Jesus Christ was free of that because as the Son of God he was able to love all people and all kinds of races and creeds. No wonder he emphasized so much in love and the love of God. I am guilty as charged!

Below there is  Psalm I took out of the Bible to portray how prejudices and hate afflicts others.
Psalm:  How long will you people mock my honor, love what is worthless, chase after lies?
Many say, "May we see better times! In peace I shall both lie down and sleep. You have given my heart more joy than they have when grain and wine abound. For you alone, LORD, make me secure. Lord, show us the light of your face!"
Bible: 1 Psalms  Chapter 4
A Psalm of David.     (Portions of it)

Notes:  The psalmist exhibits his individual lament emphasizing trust in God. The petition is based upon the psalmist's vivid experience of God as savior (Psalm 4:2).
That experience of God is the basis for the warning to the wicked: revere God who intervenes on the side of the faithful.
The faithful psalmist exemplifies the blessings given to the just (Psalm 4:7-8).++++++++++
