Now a population explosion took place upon the earth. Then said, " My spirit must not forever be disgraced in man, wholly evil as he is. I will give him 120 years to mend his ways. When the Lord saw the extent of human wickedness, and that the trend and direction of men's lives were only towards evil, he was sorry he had made them. It broke his heart.
And he said, " I will blot out from the face of the earth all mankind that I created. Yes, the animals too, and the reptiles and the birds. For I am sorry I made them. Meanwhile, the crime rate was rising rapidly across the earth, and, as seen by God, the world was rotten to the core.

The world got a population increase to the max. God watch the sons of man go bad and do bad things. The sin of Cain, murder, was committed over and over. God's spirit that is within man is greatly grieve. He had enough. He gave man 120 yrs, the time that it took Noah to build the arc. Noah was chosen because of his pure heart and reverance for God. Even though men was awful God was willing to give them another chance.
People had gone bad and have done sinful and evil things with animals so the animals were not pure as when God first created them. They had to be destroyed along with the rest of the world because of what men had done with God's creation. How they have used it for evil instead of good. But God preserve the animals from whom other species had been born. Every specie is a descendant of a primary created animal. Horses, cattle, cats, dogs, and so on. God intented to redo the earth population again.
God told Noah of his plans to flood the earth and kill all living things. Noah told the people of what was going to happen about the end of their world, but instead they laughed and scoffed him and called him crazy. Until the end came and washed them off the face of the earth.
In Noah God had found a good and upright man who followed God and from Noah lineage all new descendant will come or be born. When the waters receded Noah's arc stopped at Mount Ararat. It is from that region that the population began. We are all descendants of Noah's lineage born after the flood.
