For the peace of Jerusalem pray:
May peace be within your ramparts.
For the house of the LORD, our God, I pray,
"May blessings be yours."
For family "May those who love you prosper!
and friends I say, "May peace be yours."
I rejoiced when they said to me,
And now our feet are standing within your gates, Jerusalem.
Here are the thrones of justice,
the thrones of the house of David.
As it was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
Here the tribes have come, the tribes of the LORD,
prosperity within your towers."
Bible: Psalms Chapter 122

Notes:
A song of ascents. Of David. A song of Zion, sung by pilgrims obeying the law to visit Jerusalem three times on a journey. The singer anticipates joining the procession
into the city. Jerusalem is a place of encounter, where the people praise God and
hear the divine justice mediated by the king. The very buildings bespeak
God's power. May the grace of this place transform the people's lives.
Walled round about: literally, "which is joined to it," probably referring both to the
density of the buildings and to the dense population.

Dear Lord:
Would you one day allow me to be in your city? O, Jerusalem, Israel, how I wish with all my heart that I can walk on the streets of the house of Jehovah. This in one place on earth my
heart yearns to visit. I would be richly blessed if I was able to get the money to visit with
you in your own land. To walk where you walk, to sit and enjoy your garden. Blessed are
you Jesus for coming into the world and dying for our sins. Blessed is you father who permit
his only son to come to earth, take the body of man and walk amongst them. My heart breaks
when I think of you Jehovah, so full of love for humanity, that you endure the ill treatment of
you holy son. That you suffered immensely to see how humans treated the most precious
gift to them. Blessed are your tears! I thank you.
