See, I make you small among the nations;
you are held in dire contempt.
The pride of your heart has deceived you.
Who say in your heart, "Who will bring me down to earth?"
Though you go as high as the eagle, and your nest be set among the stars,
From there will I bring you down, says the LORD.
For near is the day of the LORD for all the nations!
As you have done, so shall it be done to you,
your deed shall come back upon your own head.

Notes: The Prophet Obadiah who foretold the destruction of the people of Israel by Edom, had those verses to say against the corruption running rampant in the holy land.

Though you go as high as the eagle (the eagle is the simbol also of USA)
Israel suffer major attacks by other desperately nations and in his arrogance
pay the price for not listening to their prophet's warnings.
Forgetting to give thanks to God for his protection and the supplying of good water ways. all their needs and wants.
