 Do you believe in 2012?
We all known that we are going to get hit by an asteroid that is going to bring  catastrophic changes to the world as we know.  But I do not think this even will bring about the end of the world in the year 2012.  It can be part of the "Signs" spoken about in the last book of the Bible, "Revelation."  But it does not coincide with the Bible: Book of Mark 13  31-37 where it reads: No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Be on guard! Be alert!  You do not know when that time will come.

NEO
is short for "Near Earth Objects". These NEO are used as false information regarding the r doomsday scenarios or theories.  Asteroid Toutatis is going to be close enough to Earth to cause some global catastrophe on December 12, 2012.  According to the data found here: (Center for Astrophysics at Harvard), on December 12, 2012  the Asteroid Toutatis will be 0.04633 A.U. away from Earth.

What is an AU?    A.U. is the average distance between the center of mass of the Earth and the center of mass of the Sun which comes out to be approximately, 92,955,807 miles.
How far is the Asteroid is from the Earth.
Math time:
Multiply 0.04633 AU x 92955807 mi = (Answer) 4,306,642 Miles  away from the Earth.
So the Asteroid will be 4.3 x 10^6 miles away from the Earth.  Is that close?  The Earth-Moon distance is 238,900 miles apart, that means that the asteroid will be 18X the distance of the Earth to the Moon. That's not close enough to classify it as a Doomsday asteroid.

Examine other NEO’s (near-Earth objects):   Based on the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard, the data suggests that there are at least 3 known NEO’s < 0.001 AU. The objects are identified by WN5, SB45, and Apophis will be in the Earth’s proximity June 2028, October 2037 and April 2027 WN5 and SB45 have distances around 0.0015 AU  about 130,000 miles away from EarthThats half the distance between the Earth and the Moon.  Apophis has a distance of 21547 miles away from the Earth!  That is very close, really close!

Asteroid Toutatis and its moon in far background

Is this the one that will bring about the end of our world as we know it? My answer is no!  According to the Bible:  Book of Mark:  13 31-37     No one on earth not even the angels in heaven know the hour nor the day in which the world will come to an end . That is God's guarded secret.  Yes, they can come close enough to create great  disturbances on planet Earth as tper the signs mentioned in the book of Revelation found in the Bible.

Perhaps, the NEO will come close enough to earth to cause drastic climactic changes, interupt agriculture and seasons, or a whole host of other astronomical changes to our planet; do not forget that, satan must come before the return of Christ, because he will decieve the people into believing that he is the Messiah, and in order to do that he will need to preform miracles equal to that of heaven (or what people thing God could do).

The Bible also speaks of wars and catastrophies before the return of Christ; therefore, to say that this NEO is NOT going to be what Revelations speaks of, aren't you in fact falsley prophesizing what only God himself knows, and in fact calling God a liar, since only He knows, and not even the angels in Heaven.

I believe the Revelations are not to warn of physical harm or catastrophies, but rather to "prepare" you, and make sure your heart is right with God when it does happen, and that He provided these prophesies as a way for you to know that the Bridegroom is coming, and to prepare your heart because He is near.

Anyway, the astronomists could be right, it may be a "doomsday" event, because they are only familiar with mathmatics and not scripture, so they would never dare label it as "The King's Return"; and if it was an earthly catastrophy, the masses would still reject the idea of it being Christs return, until the moment He appears, and every knee will bow to Him.

What I am saying is, whether this NEO is the end or not, prepare yourself, "trim your lamp", because you and I will never know when it might be, but it really shouldn't matter if we are prepared for the King's return. I suppose if this "NEO" is in fact a doomsday event, you will have fulfilled prophesy by NOT knowing, since only God knows.

Just a thought.

Hello: Hugh_Pizmehoff You said: "The Bible also speaks of wars and (catastrophies) before the return of Christ; therefore, (to say that this NEO is (NOT) going to be what (Revelations speaks of), aren't you in fact (falsley prophesizing) what only God himself knows, and in fact calling God a liar, since only He knows, and not even the angels in Heaven. (????????) :-{
BIBLE: Book of Mark 13:31-37 (No one knows) about that day or hour, not even the (angels in heaven), (nor the Son), but (only the Father). Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
I don't think you understood what I wrote. I never said that NEO were not part of the Signs of the end of the world or part of the tribulation. What I said is that this panic induce information of catastrophic events for the year 2012 that will bring about the end of the world in the year 2012 is false. According to the Holy scriptures in Bible: Book of Mark: 13:31-37
I never said that this event is not what "Revelation" speaks of, it might well be, but this predicted event for the year 2012 is not going to destroy the world and bring about the close of the age on that year 2012.
I don't appreciate you saying that I am calling God a liar for I will never do such a thing. Besides God knows my heart and you don't! So don't be so quick to judge me.

airsjc,

Perhaps I misunderstood when you said the end will not come in 2012. Because, if you actually believe that it will NOT come in 2012, that would actually lend credence to the Bible's assertion that "nobody knows", because if everybody believes (as you do)that there is no possible way that there could be a "prophetic end" by an asteroid in 2012, then if it in fact happened in 2012, nobody would know, few would be prepared, and the scripture that reads "nobody will know" would be accurate.

Maybe, what you meant to convey in the article was that "scientists do not know when the end will come" and people should not rely on scientific information, because scripture states, "nobody knows but God himself".

Perhaps you intended to convey that you do not know whether science is right or wrong about this asteroid in 2012, because "nobody knows", but it might very well be a part of the catastrophies spoken of in Revelations.

I am confused by whether you believe this is part of last days prophesy, or that it has nothing at all to do with prophesy at all.

I think it destroys your well-founded credibility to say that you are sure the end is NOT 2012. I know you usually do not publish these "opinion type" blogs, and I hope you relize the response that an opinion will generate when it's scripturally attached, or uses scripture to validate what is only an "opinion".

I read your blog regularly, and don't comment very often, because I usually find it to be accurate and find no reason to object to it, but enjoy reading it.

Perhaps I should apologize to you, since it would be biblically correct to say that the end will surely not come in 2012, because that actually means that you do not know when it might be, which is correct, and I have no opposition to that.

I do ask that you be careful when mixing scripture with scientific (or any other) type opinions, because the y will not only generate heated debate, they will become confusing to the reader; and lastly, your usual posts are biblically based and accurate, which makes people look to your blog for spiritual direction in accordance with scripture, which can become problematic when a personal opinion is injected into a discussion on scripture, or visa verca.

Finally, make no mistake about the face that I am "old school" and will turn the other cheek if a person insults me, but will surely knock the person to the ground if they insult my God. This may be a bold and brash attitude, but it is a matter of principle for me. If I know scripture is being distorted or misinterpreted, I feel it is my obligation to correct it, but if I do not know or am unsure, I just leave it alone. I felt your blog was awful bold to assert that you knew for sure that this asteroid could not be the end, and felt the need to jump in and say something; but upon futher analysis I realized that if you are sure the end is not in 2012, you are just fulfilling what I believe is true, that nobody knows.

Hello: Hugh_Pizmehoff: All you comments are very well respected by me for I always keep in mind that I do not know it all nor have any special advance knowledge of God's intention. I welcome a good hearted debate as in "evolution" blog. The message I want to convey on this particular blog of 2012 is that no matter what today's so called prophets and prophetess are saying that the world will end according to the Maya calendar which ends on the year 2012 and the so called prophet Nostradomus who was nothing but an astrologer, this time ending has no solid base. Why because this people have not the foundation of God in their corner. Their predictions are based on heresay. It is in the Bible that no one will no when the end will come and how. Yes, the world will end in fire but before that happens a lot of the signs mentioned in the Bible come true and take place. Yes, we are living in the time of the "Signs" as you can see how this country is going down hill fast with its morals, family life, leaders, violance, perverts, and you name it. But this are the behavior of godless people that are bringing about changes in our society taken our new generation to apostacy.

I believe all the scripture of the end times is not to scare us, but rather to motivate us to prepare for His coming, and allow us to ready are souls for the glorious coming. True Christians with a strong faith will not fear the end, they will rejoice at the coming of their Lord, as all of those spirits awaiting Heaven, and all the armies of angels anxiously waiting, and cheering for the day He victors over satan.

God wants us to know he is coming, because He told us so; but when he comes, is not as important as being prepared for his coming.

Whether he comes in 2012, or tommorrow, doesn't matter to those who are prepared today.
