| Churches |
Today churches appear to be missing something. To me is the reaching of a lot of people young and middle age and even the old. The same stale messages. I am not trying to say that the gospel is stale but the way is presented is old and mechanical and needs to be more updated with the times and kinds of spiritual needs of people.
A lot of people do what I called church hopping. They go from one church to another seeking something before they decide to stay in one particular church or dump the church going.I think they are looking to have their needs met, addressed, explained. I don't think that they are looking for the perfect church, maybe a few of them are. A lot of people want to know if faith is true and not something forced to believe in. They want to know this God they hear about so much. Who is he? Where is he? What does he do? Is it true he loves humanity? Why and how can a father sent his son to die for people that are bad? What kind of father would do that?
The need to learn and understand that God did not send, ordered, nor force Jesus to die on a wooden cross without first giving Jesus the choice to say, "No." It was Jesus final decision to give up his life for our sake. Where is God? Is his place related to the earth and why so far away that we look in size like jumping flees to him. What is in it for God if they follow him?
Is very frustrating to do the church hopping scene. I have done just that at one time. The local church has many types of people entering those doors on Sundays. What was considered good communication twenty years ago with its members is not good anymore. Some people have reached a level of spiritual maturity and understanding others have not. Churches are populated with different kinds of people. Their levels of income is different, nationalities, beliefs and the likes. To be able to reach today's crowd we need to address them more in their spiritual needs. They are looking for the truth of God's love, the reality of the Gospel.
In the "me" first mentality of today that is not taken into account. People usually think in matters of "what's in it for me"? Fellowship is very important. I have witness a family of different nationality go completely ignored by it's member and even the pastor. Not one of the church members went over to them and introduce themselves or offer any assistance. Where is their hospitality? It should be directed to the entired congregation. I try hard not to be like that. If they don't want any help they can tell me and I go away. But I find that a lot of times they appreciate me coming over and extending a friendly welcoming and an introduction. I do that because I know what is like to visit a church for the first time and have not a soul come say hello or acknowledge my presence.
People can be taught, helped and encouraged with the love that Christ showed when he was preaching during his eartly years. Jesus never asked a person who asked to be healed if they were members of his following group or congregation. He never told them to come back at a more convenient time because he needed to preach a sermon or do something ordinary at the moment. Jesus was always ready, willing and able to address that persons needs. He did not question them on their beliefs or forced them to accept him as the son of God. He merely saw the great need for their quest. He attended to them with charitable love and understanding of the human heart.
Jesus Christ embraced those who were not liked, rejected, diseased, unwanted, the poor and needy, the adultress, tax collectors, the most hated people in the community. He poured out himself out of concern for the people. There is a need to reach the masses with the gospel of Jesus Christ and is can only be done with love, understanding, compassion, real interest and care.
