 Agnostics
An agnostic is a doubter and a skeptical person.  Professing to be intellectuals and believing that it is impossible to know whether there is a God. They do not deny the possibily of God like an atheist, who firmly believes there is no God.

The term agnostic was fittingly coined by the 19th-century British scientist Thomas H. Huxley, who believed that only material phenomena were objects of exact knowledge.

Huxley was considering as "Gnostics" a group of his fellow intellectuals"ists," as he called them who had eagerly embraced various doctrines or theories that explained the world to their satisfaction. Because he was a "man without a rag of a label to cover himself with," Huxley coined the term agnostic for himself, its first published use being in 1870.

Believing in God is a personal decision.  Those who question the existence of God or firmly believe that God is a myth get hot and bother when other believe in the Creator.  Why do they insist that every one will believe their theory?  Why spend so much time in trashing something you don't believe in?  You can see it their efforts all over America today.

I don't believe in luck, yet when people say how "lucky" they are about this and that I just don't pay attention to it. I don't speak out and try to convince them otherwise or call them names, or take them to court.  I don't get upset about the "luck" ideology.  I don't believe in luck so that is my own personal view, and if you do well then that is your business and not mine.

ACLU hides the true about its own agenda.  To eradicate, to destroy, eliminate the faith in God.  Why bother so much with it?  Is it not possible that they want to establish their believes firmly by eradicating a  faith they detest.  Every one has the right to believe what they want, "Freedom of religion," does that sound familiar?  But that is exactly what the ACLU is trying to destroy, the freedom of you and me to believe what ever we want.  The ACLU wants America to be a faithless atheist nation.

Jesus said, in the "Sermon on the Mount of Olives",  For there will be persecution such as the world has never before seen in all its history, and will never see again.
Then you will be tortured and killed and hated all over the world because you are mine.

This things are taking place right now in the world.  In America you got the ACLU persecution method that will give birth in the future to the murders of Christ followers.

Atheist and agnostics are clearly threatened by something (God) they do not believe in, which makes no sense at all; and even more ridiculous is that this ill-founded threat should be overtly appearent to a person that favors science and logic.

I would be threatened also, if millions of people claimed to have discovered an all-powerful deity, when all I was relying on was logic and science (which faulters daily) and could not even be considered second best to what others are believing.

Personally, I don't believe that there is any such thing as atheists or agnostics, because nobody has ever proven to me that they exist; however I do believe in idiocy, which can be evidenced in many people who constantly attack what they ardently insist does not even exist.

Thomas Huxely must have overlooked the fault in his own "logic" . . . and people wonder why I am a Christian .... LOL

LOL: I found your comments very insightful. There is a common denominator in all these fighting to take God out of the picture. That is man/woman desire to do as they please without having to answer to any higher court. That is the sin of rebellion.

response to hugh: with respect, i believe your comments and views may be a bit faulty, judgemental, and overgeneralized. here's what i mean, and please hear me out. you begin your comment with the statement "atheists and agnostics are clearly threatened by something (god) they do not believe in..." right off the bat, you are grouping all atheists and agnostics together, that "they" are clearly threatened. what if one were to say all christians are hypocritical and naive? the very thing you're doing is why many people become atheist or agnostic -- that is, you're grouping and judging unfairly. further, i'm trying to figure out your comment, "i don't believe that there is any such thing as atheists or agnostics, because nobody had ever proven to me that they exist." you then go on to label this group of people as idiots. oh man. what i'm saying is that there are plenty of atheists and agnostics out there, not sure what you would need to happen to have that proven to you. has someone ever proven to you that god exists?

there are plenty of "non-believers", and i would argue a majority of whom, are not attacking anything or anyone -- they are merely choosing to have his or her own beliefs and are desirous of living a peaceful life, respecting the right of others to believe in what they choose to without judgment and/or prejudice. being agnostic myself, i certainly don't go around calling other groups of people idiots or otherwise bashing others' belief systems. i want to pose a hypothetical question to you, for the sake of good conversation and discussion: how many people have died in the name of atheism, agnosticism, or for that matter buddhism (which i see more as a philosophical belief system rather than a religious one)? the opposite question of course needs to be posed: how many people over the course of human history have been killed in the name of christianity -- i'm sorry, but was that christ's desire, to have others die in his name? wasn't he supposedly a man of peace, love, and acceptance? i think if this is the case, his message has been woefully distorted. in its purest form, chrisitanity, along with many other religions, is a beautiful thing. this being said, i'm certainly not going to assert that someone is an idiot simply because they are christian, as you seem to be doing toward atheists and agnostics. i'm glad you find solace in your religion, and would never attack that choice, or otherwise think less of you for your beliefs. what i would take offense to is your judgement of others, which i thought in christianity was reserved for god and god only.

one last comment in response to "i would be threatened also, if millions of people claimed to have discovered an all-powerful deity..." being yourself christian, as you stated, what are your thoughts on islam or hinduism, or for that matter any religion other than christianity? are those people, agnostics and atheists not to be left out, destined to burn in hell for an eternity because they aren't christian?

about 1 out of every 3 people on this planet consider themselves christian. what about the other two-thirds, the 1.5 billion muslims, the over 1 billion atheists/agnostics, or the almost one billion hindus, etc. etc.? are they idiots, too?

do sheer numbers make something inherently right or wrong or otherwise prove the validity of something? what about those who were around before christ, were they idiots, too?

i hope you see the discussion value of what i'm saying, rather than my words as a criticism to you specifically. however, i do feel you've unfairly judged a group of people with very little ground with which to do so.

cheers.
