21st October 2008, Atlanta
Besides from Halloween it is a season for the Fall Festivals and apples. The apple festival was held North West of Atlanta. The festival sells traditional American food, freshly picked apples, cider, arts and craft. Erin (my next door neighbour) and I drove 1.5 hours to Ellijay. Traditional American food includes apple dumpling, hot dogs, burgers, French fries, fried green tomatoes, smoked trout, grilled corn, ribs and many other items.
The sky was blue and temperature was mild, a perfect autumn’s day. A lot of people were out and about at the festival. Kids were running wild while parents lined up at stalls for food and gifts for the coming holiday season.

Erin and I browsed the stalls and bought enough apples and apple cider to feed a family of 10.

As I am writing this update I exhausted from not being able to hold my food in. Somehow I managed to get food poisoning. It’s hasn’t been pleasant, my belly feels unsettled and nothing I eat seems to stay inside of me for long. I have taken 2 days off to rest and I have slept most of the two days yet I still feel extremely tired and weak. I had to come into work by 7.00am this morning and went immediately home after the meeting. I felt nauseous and I needed to lie down. My apartment is a mess because I don’t have the energy to tidy up.
I am feeling much better, now that my fever has passed and I can actually walk. Being sick makes me miss my family and my bed in Australia even more.
