 Looking for a best friend...
I'm not REALLY putting out an add for a best friend. Last night I had a conversation with my fiance and he mentioned about 4 people who were his closest friends. Two of which are his best friends. I started thinking about who I would consider my best friend and couldn't come up with anything. I mean, I have one person who I tell everything to, but they aren't as open with me and I can't really count on them. I have a friend who had a habit of getting very emotional at party's whenever she had a lil' too much to drink and my fiance was right there for her every single time. He would often leave me alone at the parties for hours to make sure she was okay. I understand that you need to be there for your friends when they are in a bad place, but then I started to think, besides my fiance of course, do I have anyone in my life, willing to put other things aside just to make sure I was okay? No I don't. I can think of one time when that happened, which I wrote a BLOG about but even then I felt like they only reason someone made sure I was okay, was because I got emotional right in front of there face and they didn't know what else to do. I don't have that person who makes me feel safe, who I have a bond with, who i can call in the middle of the night when I am feeling blue. I often feel that I am a burden to others if I do that so I tend not to. Maybe it's me. Who knows. Anyway, the point to all this is that last night, I felt like the subject of Not having a best friend was thrown in my face, not on purpose of course, but I did and do feel rather lonely, even with all the friends I have. I suppose that is another reason for these BLOGS eh? :)

well i have one best friend and if i was to call her in the middle of the night. she probably wouldnt answer. I feel the same way. you are not alone. i have had so many friends in my life. because of who i am, my personality, my spirit, people gravitate to that but to feed off me, to take what i almost always give and leave me with nothing in return. my husband is now my best friend, its still not the same though.

Can any adult really have a best friend who isn't also their choice of life partner? It'd probably cause a lot of conflicting loyalties if you did.
