| Dreams age faster than dreamers |
I was reading Stephen King’s “Dream Catcher” when I came across this sentence,
"Dreams age faster than dreamers”.
At first, I wasn’t quite able to grasp it, but when I read it again, I suddenly understand.
Dreams are meant to just be dreams.
I had my dream. It was to be a basketball player. I was a pretty decent player,
but I was kinda short.
Uh, make that short.
5’3” to be exact
So I was always told that I was too short to play for the school varsity team.
I never had a coach take the risk to train me.
They always see the height as a reason to cut me off the team try outs.
So my dream grew old, until it died.
I’m already in college, and basketball is now just a spectator sport for me.
I play with my friends, but I still want to feel how it is to play in a place with cheering schoolmates, giving support all the way.
I envy ball players when I see them on TV, representing their schools.
That was all I wanted to do, wear the school colors, play for the school.
Guess I just didn’t get the luck of the genes draw.
I am still wondering if maybe a coach would have taken a chance of training me, what could have happened…..?
