(I am going to write him a letter for his birthday every year)
Dear Little James,
I brought you into this world about a year ago, and what a time its been. You have grown so much and I have too. You have not only let me know what unconditional love truly is, and you have made me stronger. Your birth is what made able to stand on my own and take control of my life, and break from free from people who were holding me down.
You are truly a blessing and I must protect and cherish you. I have been given the task of raising a BLACK MAN so that you will be a good husband and father, and I do not take it lightly. I am so thankful that you have a good dad, because I can't teach you how to be a man by myself.
I promise you that I will always be there for you no matter what. I am your bestfriend, doctor, lawyer and the next person you call on after GOD. I can't tell you that you will never have pain or bad things won't happen although I wish I could absorb every hurt for you. The bad things will make you thankful for the good, and humble you. I will lay down my life for you in a heartbeat, and I will do anything to make sure that your every need is satisfied. You are my child, my flesh and blood, and these are my promises to you. You didnt ask to be born, and so I have to make your life the best it can be. I am not perfect and I will make mistakes along the way, and I will apologize now, because we both have to grow together. Everything that I do now affects your life, so I have to make the effort to be a better person and set a good example. If you take nothing else from me please learn to be strong like me and keep GOD in everythiing you do and you will be fine. Just always know that mommy loves you and the three us of will make it through anything.
