 Sacrum and Illipsoas
Yesterday, I took Mala's class at lunchtime.  I only do this once in a while because there are only so many 2 hour lunches I can take from work.  It's only an hour class, but by the time I drive there, class, shower, drive back, eat lunch, it's easy 2 hours.  Nonetheless, I liked her class a lot.  It was very slow, but I definitely had a lot of tapas built through her postures.  She did a lot of peripheral warming up to start.  Much attention to head movement; I greatly appreciated this.  She was very much into the concentration of the postures, which I found quite appealing as well.  Gosh, ACAC has so many good yoga instructors!

I went to Melissa's class this morning.  It was great!  I was a little concerned because I was so groggy in the a.m. (worked 16 hours on friday!), but I stopped by Greenberry's at Barracks road and picked up a mocha.  That got me going!  Melissa is so good with hip opening stuff.  She also took a brief pause and aligned ourselves before going in ardha badda padmottanasana.  It was the most comfortable ardha badda pad I've had in a looooong time, and I think it was because I was letting my butt stick out too far after I grabbed the half lotus.  Instead, I thought about lengthening up, and then taking the foot into half lotus.  In this way, I felt the foot sink into the bottom basin of the pelvis.  The action of all of this was, I believe, to lengthen the illipsoas muscle, which felt sooooooo good.  Also, I finally got into fish pose (with the lotus, that is) with my right leg on top.  It felt very awkward at first, but I really felt a nice release in both sides of the hip.  I believe my concentration on doing stuff on the opposite side of the body is paying off.  I really feel a lot of hip opening on the right side.  Savasana was not very deep, but I was happy.  I chatted with Melissa briefly after class as I had not seen her in ages (probably not in a few months at least because I usually sleep in on Saturday).  She is such a nice girl.
