Why shouldn't I believe Popular Rapture theories?
.
Deuteronomy 4:2 - Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you

Proverbs 30:5-6 - Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. KJV

Revelations 22:18-19, NET
Jesus warned that “I testify to the one who hears the words of the prophecy contained in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.

Many popular Christians have been testifying about a secret rapture and two Second comings of Christ. This does not correlate with the whole counsel of scripture; therefore since they are wrong scripturally, they are literally false prophets knowingly or unknowingly. It is a very serious thing to fall into the hands of an angry God. The OT/NT does not favor the end of any false prophet. It is not about popularity, but obedience to the Holy Spirit and truth of His Words.

(NET) I Thess. 5:19-21, do not extinguish the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt. But examine all things; hold fast to what is good. Stay away from every form of evil. In II Tim.4:4 and they will turn away from hearing the truth, but on the other hand they will turn aside to myths."

There were false prophets in the ancient days as there are now with several prophetic camps. They prophecy to what the majority feels is right. We should examine everything written or said, prove the truth like the Berean church of Acts, and avoid false prophecy which is evil. We should hold fast to the true prophecy which is good. We should not turn aside to myths because it makes us feel good about the future. Many love to be seduced by lies. We should face the complete counsel of the word of God, which tells us to prepare and endure until He comes. This is the etenally safe perspective.
