What does Zion gotta do with Christians?
by YWGO

Question:
What does Scion or Zion have to do with the End Days and Christians?

The www.thefreedictionary.com/scion notes Scion as meaning:
1. A descendant or heir-royal stock. a person considered as descended from some ancestor or race.
2. also sci•on (s n) A detached shoot or twig containing buds from a woody plant, used in grafting.

Various dictionaries such as, www.godonthe.net/dictionary/s.html, wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn and Judaismhttp://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/zion, define Zion in summary as:
a hill or ridge inside the city of Jerusalem that was originally a stronghold captured by the Israelite King David where a temple was built. Later the name extended to the whole hill where it became a synonym for the city of Jerusalem; "the inhabitants of Jerusalem are personified as "the daughter of Zion'"-
the Jewish or Hebrew homeland of Israel. In it's futuristic sense it is defined as a the perfect Utopian society.

Throughout the Bible the word (Zion) is used interchangelbly to mean various things, but one idea in God’s eternal plan. When the Bible uses the word engrafted; it has several meanings, but connected to Zion. Scion is a term used to define the engrafting of two peoples of royal heritage. To understand these meanings, the History of Israel’s diaspera or scattering throughout the world must be understood in God’s eternal redemption, reconcilitation, and restoration plan. One must look back in the TANKH (OT) for the understanding mentioned in the Messianic prophecies. Not only from a historical perspective of one race of people, but the blending of them with the whole world for YHWH elohims master plan.

In the Hebrew writings and history, the Houses of Judah/Benjamin and the 10 northern tribes of Israel were scattered throughout the world for not keeping their marriage covenant with YHWH. Our ancestors hardened themselves in idolatry, murdered his prophets, and rejected His words. They were sold as captives to the nations and  incurred the curse of the Law (Duet 28 & Gal 3:13). The tribes of Dan and Ephraim were judged and assimilated into the worlds cultures (Amos 8:14 ). Many lost their heritage and identity. However, Epharim was given mercy to return (Jerimiah 30:18-20).

Christ (Ha Mashiach) first came to earth 2000 years ago. He fulfilled the prophetic writings where he came as a suffering servant-Lamb of God-prophet, Priestly King-Messiah-the Anointed One. He visited and notified both the House of Judah and the 10 lost tribes whom were dispersed. His message to all of them was that they could be set free from the curse of the Law, their natural and spiritual lawbreaking, and delivered from eternal punishment through a New Covenant made in His blood. He came to set the captives free. ( Isaiah 61:1-6 & Luke 4:18) They were also known as lost sheep (Psalm 78:52 & Matthew 15:24).

The Jews-“House of Judah and Benjamin” returned from captivity. They often looked down on many of the lost tribes such as the Samaritans-categorizing them as Gentiles. Many of the lost tribes listened to Christ and believed, while others did not and incurred curses from Him ( Matthew 11: 20-30, 24, Luke 10: 13-15. John 10-11 chapters ). Through their rejection of the Messiah, the whole world can now be saved. ( John 3:16, Rom 9-11). His message was that in order to be saved and set free, they must believe and accept Him as Messiah, His (SACRIFICE) -death, burial, resurrection, repent of their sins, be immersed in His name, and filled with the Holy Spirit who writes His Torah on our hearts (Matt 28;16-19, Acts1:8, 2:38 Jer 31:31-33). He called 12 apostles and others to reach the lost ten tribes and the world with His Besorah-Good News. (Acts 2:5,26:7, 28:28, 1 Peter 1:1-2, 2 Chap., Hosea 1:1-8-10)( James 1:1, Romans 9:22-33).

They formed the ecclesia or kahal-“called out” ones. A body of people living by Messiah’s eternal Hebrew commandments. They were just like the Israelites in Exodus; (Acts 7:38. 17:26,27, 20:28) a mixed congregation of -beleiving Jews and Gentiles). Ephesians 2nd chapter gives detailed description of us being made “one house” through Christ.

The book of Eziekiel 37, Hosea 1:10, and Romans 10-11, Ephesians 2:12-18, Revelations 7 & 14, outlines a group of people- (Israel-12 tribes) + Gentile believers in Jesus (YAHUSHUA or Yeshua) being joined together as One Israel. The Gentiles are a large mixed multitude of people like those in (Exodus 12:37-38, Duet. 29:14-15, Num. 15:15-16). Many Biblical scholars believe, these people are spiritual Ephraim, noted in Eziekiel 37 joined to the House of Israel.  Revelations note this multitude in its final inclusion with Israel.

1 Pet 2:9 (NET) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (Exodus 19:5-6 & Deuteronomy 26:18)

Rabbi Eddie Chumny, Hebraic roots scholar, notes that there are Torah Concepts used to create this "new group" of people who are chosen. They are saved by grace throug faith like our forefathers in Exodus. By putting the lambs blood on their doorpost, they were saved by God’s favor through their faith. The New Covenant also gives them the right to be joined to Israel by birthright, not geaneology -1 Chron. 5:1(Gen. 28 & Gal 3:14).

We see an olive Tree in the Hebrew writings and Pauls letters- notes that this olive tree represented the house of Israel and the house of Judah according to Jer. 11:16-17. It was God that "planted" this olive tree and pronounced evil against it because this "olive tree" had done evil in provoking God to anger. Therefore some of the branches were broken off which is what the apostle Paul said, and it also states this in Jer. 11:16.

Jeremiah 11:16-17 The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, [and] of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal. (KJV)

Romans 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (KJV)

Romans 11:23-26 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graff them in again.  For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be grafted into their own olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: (KJV)

*In the Olive Tree example, we can see why Galations 3: 28 notes: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. (1 Cor. 12:13) For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (Ephesians 4:4-6) One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

It must be noted that there is only one way for anyone’s sins to be atoned for based on Torah principals. Dr. Louis Goldberg’s notes in his book “Are there two Ways to Atonement ?”, that substitution, identification, death, and exchange are vital for Israel’s atonement. Atonement is not based on any traditional regulations or self help philosophy of good works. It is based on the blood of Yeshua as our High Priest ( book of Hebrews).  the Apostle Paul emphasized this as part of our endtime Gospel message:

Romans 1:16 (NET) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

*John 19:37 and Zechariah notes that the unbelieving House of Isreal will come understand who Yeshua was and is, in the future as other scriptures note they have a veil to the truth, yet this does not infer for believers to stop preaching the full Gospel. We should continue to proclaim the New Covenant witness until Yeshua returns on that Day.

Scriptures that note a gathering of Israel:
Duet. 30:3-4, Isaiah 49:7,23,56:8, Zech 10:6-9, 11:7-11,14, Ezekiel 20:34,41, 28:25 37:21,39:27, Hosea 1:10-11, Micah 2:12, 4:6,John 10;16

For the last two centuries, the land of Israel has seen miraculous historical restorations. Many Jews and Christians were compelled to return to Jerusalem. Many Christians have been lead into a deeper relationship of Hebrew understanding and Torah living.  For the endtimes, it means a regathering of all of Israel. Since there are two houses-Ephraim and Judah. Many believe that God (Ha Shem) will gather many of His people back to Israel that keep His commandments in the last days.  While others will continue to testify the Gospel(Besorah) until their deaths and ressurect when Yeshua Returns a 2nd time to set up His millineum Kingdom.

Many Prophecy teachers, believe a future persecution will take place for believers across the world that will cause us to have leave our homelands. Obviously, during those times many of the elect will be martyred around the world while keeping their testimony for Christ, (Rev. 20:6 ). Some Bible scholars believe those who return to Israel, will be protected during the final last  days in what scriptures note as “Bozrah” http://www.endtimepilgrim.org/bozrahdeliv.htm.  This is where the remants of Israel will flee after Jerusalem will be trodden down again as noted in Matthew 24. This prophetic definition of scripture is yet  to unviel itself. We must  pray and study more in detail to solicite accuracy of Bozrah teachings. However, we who are alive at that time will know what to do being lead by Yeshua's Spirit.

Therefore, Our Lord’s mission will be subdue the earth,  restore, and join the two houses that are scattered into one house called Zion for a thousand years under Christ’s Messianic reign (Isaiah 2:2-4, Mich 4:2 Rev. 2:27). It is evident the (Ruach Ha Kodesh) Holy Spirit is preparing us all for this purpose. Those who are faithful will not be part of any denomination, but one Hebrew House. After the Tribulation period, when Christ comes, dead or alive, we will be changed into our eternal purpose for Zion. There will be One Torah for all.  If the old saying is true: "that it all goes to the Jews"  then Christians whom are joined in Yeshua (Jesus) will have a Jewish inheritance for eternity with YHWH.

I have always loved Chapter 11 of Romans because it talks of us being "grafted" into God's Family. I never realized the dictionary definition of Scion. I always knew Zion as the place, but it is fascinating to see the rich implications of the meaning of the word! Thank you and God Bless!

Shalom. Thanks for your comments. Studying from the Hebraic roots perspective really makes a differance in understanding overlooked contextual studies.

The days ahead will mean a famine of the true word of YHWH(God). All will need to re-read, check everyone's teachings, and think outside broad categories of greco-roman theology and other religious traditions.

Hermanutics and Homolitics are important philosphical concepts, but the "simplicity" of the Gospel(Besorah) in it's Hebrew cultural idioms of the time are vital to knowing our eternal indentity in Yeshua(Jesus).

Pray for us all to get this encouraging message of reigning with Yeshua and overcoming the Tribulation events before His Return.
