Dead City
this critique is on Acacia Duncan. Who played Jewel in the production of Dead City on april 19, 2008. Dead city was written by Sheila Callaghan.
Acadia Duncan made some interesting choices for jewel. who was a child proigy when she was a young teen. she was suppost to go off and become one of the grates. but she hit a writing block and her life spiraled down words since then. trying to get ride of the pain any way she could. to make her invisable in a way. but people just treated her like a wash out a no body, or someone who has no selfasteme and tried to take advatage of that part of her.
her obsticals would be her drinking, doing drugs and having sex anything to get her mind off the empty life that she is living. also giving up, she stoppes reaching for her dreams when her mother died. something she blames herself for when she did nothing wrong really. her believing that she killed her mother is holding her back keeping her on the down word spirl that she is on.
her phical choices where she had a little bit of a limp and a drunkin walk. but when she talked about poetry and france she danced alittle bit. she got a slison in her eyes like she was remembering happy times or amiaging herself in a better place.
her voice choices where very dream like. like she was always dreaming about leaving but it also had a sad crying part but it wasn't as suddle as the anger she had for herself or the hardness the world has put on her.
this part of Jewel worked for Acacia Duncan because it seemed like she could kind of relate to some part of Jewel.
