I went into the ENT a couple of weeks ago and scheduled a surgery for my swolen tonsils to be removed. Yesterday August 14th I got my tonsils removed and IT HURTS!!! I hate it. There is a scab IN MY THROAT. My throat is swolen. I can barely drink or eat anything. I can't wait for it to be healed again and I can finally talk normally without sounding like a guy or a duck! This is what they did in the surgery. At least this is what I remember.
Okay before the surgery we took my blood on my right arm and stuff and then we went in and I got dressed in a hospital gown and layed on the bed and they eventually put the IV in my left arm and taped it up and stuff. I was fine but I kept having to go to the bathroom. Then they came in and gave me this stuff they call "I don't care" medicine that makes you just relax. Of course I started laughing uncontrollably and eventually settled down and relaxed. Me, my mom and my dad watched comedy central until the doctor came in, explained what I can and cant eat and drink and they rolled me out of there into another room with a lot of people and HUGE machinery. I thought I was fine until they put the "knock-out" medicine in my IV. My head felt like someone was squeezing it and I got dizzy then sharp tingles stung me. It shot my ENTIRE spinal cord and the sides of my arms and my shins. I wanted to itch so badly but when I tried to I couldnt move. Then it started BURNING so I of course started screaming "ow! ow! ow!" From then on idk what happened. But I remember waking up screaming for my mom. My tonsils where out and my throat was dry so I couldnt scream that loud but man I tried. I couldn't stop myself even though I wanted to because I was hurting my own throat. Next thing I remember was I was just sleeping but I could hear everyone around me talking and this girl with really cold hands kept testing my blood with that arm pump thing. I woke up again and I was in the room I was in when they first put the IV in and I was with my mom and dad so I was happy. I tried to speak but couldnt from the yelling session I had before. Then she took the IV out, and we went home. So now I have to take these HUGE pills that my mom splits in half that makes me naucious in my stomach!

Ha, the older you are when having your tonsils removed, the worse it is. Yes, the scab on your tonsils is quit gross. The only thing I could eat was popcycles for well over 2 weeks. Finally was able to swallow some yogard and mashed potatos after that. It took almost 6 weeks before I got my voice back. Absolute, worse ongoing pain I ever endured in my life...and I ain't young....lol.... I even told my doctor when I went back for a check up that I would have rather had given birth...twice.... of course, I had a sinus surgery done at the same time. And those pills....ick....I had to practically make mine dust to be able to swallow them.... Hang it there, it does get better!
