this is for anyone who is having trouble with understanding what rent (my favorite movie) is about.
okay well the movie rent is about these people who live in the crappy side of new york who are struggling with paying their rent, handling relationships, and dealing with aids the disease. there are 8 people in it.
joane and maureen who are lesbians, collins and angel who are gay. roger and mimi who are straight. and benny and mark who are single and straight.
you see, joane is a lawyer. maureen is a protestor who used to date mark. collins is a rebelious computer age philosophy teacher. angel is a highly fashioned drag queen. roger is an unrecognized musician. mimi is a striper at the catscratch club and a drug adict. benny is a lapdog to a wealthy daughter of the revolution who owns the entire lot that the gang and more people and homeless bums live on and he wants to kick them out and make a cyber arts place out of the whole thing. and finally, mark is a man who hides behind the camera that is practically glued to his hand.
