Tempt Me No More (chpt 5) The End..YAY
Chapter five

“Well hello Morgan. I wasn’t expecting you.” Kate held the screen door open. She had her hair fixed just as Morgan had imagined.

“Come on in here” Morgan couldn’t seem to get any words out so she just made her way past Kate gripping both hands onto the back pack that was thrown over her shoulder.
She looked around to see where Claire was then she heard her voice yelling out.
“momma who is it?”

Kate put her hand on Morgan guiding her to the living room where Claire’s voice came from. “It’s miss Morgan” She continued to smile. Claire was laid out on the sofa bundled up with a pink comforter.
“What’s got you feeling bad Claire?” Morgan walked over starring down at her.
“My head hurts. Momma says I have a fever. Didn’t you mom?” Morgan reached down and pushed Claire’s sweaty hair out of her face.
“You need rest then don’t you.” Morgan looked up and almost forgot why she was even there.

Kate offered her a seat. Seeing the family photos scattered all around the living room walls made Morgan loose her balance. She grabbed onto the rocking chair and slid into it.
“You okay?” Kate asked. Claire got off the sofa and wrapped the blanket around her head and body and scuffled slowly out of the room. Her feet dragged across the floor.

“No, Kate, I don’t think I am.” Morgan’s voice cracked and the room began to spin. She tried so hard to focus on Kate’s face. It was just too hard. She buried her face into her hands and began to sob.

“What is it Morgan?” Kate made her way over to her and kneeled down beside the chair. She was so confused. She knew Morgan very well from church and had never seen her acting so strangely.
“Oh, God…” Morgan cried. “Oh, God”

“I want to help you, I’m here for you, what is it?” Kate moved closer. Morgan begin to feel her chest tighten.
“It’s Rell.” She confessed.
“I’m in love with him…and he’s in love with me.” Morgan wiped her tears and looked at a response from Kate.

Kate made her way from the floor to the sofa away from Morgan.
“Why are you doing this Morgan?” The sternness in her voice and lack of surprise, flabbergasted Morgan.

“I’m doing this because I don’t want it to get out of hand…You need to know before I tear your family a part.” She yelled.

“My advice to you is to leave Morgan! Get out of my house and stay away from Rell.”

“Don’t you even want to know….I mean know what we have shared together?”

“I already know Morgan! I’m not stupid! I’m insulted that you would even think I didn’t know about your little relationship with Rell….and that’s what it is..it’s little. He won’t leave me for you. I've asked God to tempt you no more and I’ve been praying day and night for our family and I have faith God will see us through this! You are not welcome here, you need to leave.”

Morgan was stunned. She wondered how Kate had known. Did Rell tell her? Had she seen them two together? What did she mean she wasn’t welcome here? This would one day be her house. Her family.

“Leave, now!” Kate yelled. Morgan had never seen her mad before.

“We make love all the time Kate. You don’t know how much he loves me.”

And with a quick reply Kate added, “You have no idea how much God can do overnight sweetie, My God is powerful and will not leave me empty handed through this! now I’m not going to tell you again…”

“Fine, I’m leaving, I just thought we could talk about this you know? I want to be honest about everything so he and I can move on.” Morgan jumped up. How quickly her tears had disappeared when Kate had started yelling at her.

“The only person you need to be talking to is God. Not me!”

Morgan made her way towards her car. She had no idea what had just happened. She just knew it didn’t go her way. Rell will be glad I did this. She tried to reassure herself.

Suddenly Morgan heard a loud thump. She turned to see what it was.
“Take your bag, your trash isn’t welcome here either!”

Claire was standing at the screen looking at her mother to see what all the commotion was about. She looked right into Claire’s eyes.
“Get feeling better Claire. Take good care of yourself” Morgan’s voice was still shaky.

Morgan grabbed the bag and drove to her house. She pulled into the garage like she had done many times before, but this time was different. She cried out loud and closed the door to the garage. She looked in her purse and noticed several missed calls from Rell. She listened to the voicemails he left as her heart was pounding so fast.
“What the hell are you thinking you crazy bitch! You couldn’t just wait till we figured something out! We are done! Stay out of our lives! Damnit Morgan what have you done!”
His voice screamed at her over and over. She threw the phone into the back seat.

She didn’t really love him as much as he thought she was only using him.

She opened the backpack and starred at the papers inside. She pulled them out and read them over and over. Her car still running…her mind slowing down. Her breathing was following. The papers spread out in her lap and one in her hand.
“I’m sorry…” She cried to God.

Before she took her last breath she read those words one last time…I Morgan Finnly herby consent to the adoption of Claire Finnly.

Thanks! To both of you! I would like to go back and stretch it out so there isn't so many "wow, oh my goodness" feelings back to back. The ending was written very fast because I was getting tired of it running through my head. So it needs to be revised at some point..not today though :)

As far as another one? well I hadn't got a clue. I just hope that I will be able to do another one one day..

What a twist! Great story that spans such a short chronological period and tells a larger tale.

What talent and imagination!

FUN!! That was fun to read. With a lot more detail and situations that could be a book. I'd read it.

like a pilot to a tv show... a sneak preview

Even so, I like it the way it is.
