Chapter Two
Driving home, Morgan turned the radio off even though her one of her favorite songs was playing. She had a rush inside her. A rush of excitement and fear. She wondered if Rell was going to remember to pick up whatever it was his wife had asked him to get. She would call him but didn’t want to take a chance of him being home already.
It started to sprinkle with rain as she pulled into her driveway. She sat there waiting for the garage door to open and slowly pulled her car inside. After closing the door behind her she sat there for a moment wondering if she could ever sit inside her running car with the garage door shut. She quickly turned off the engine and went inside.
Morgan always left her lights on in her living room. She didn’t have any pets to welcome her arrival. It was just her.
I’m tired of being alone she told herself when she turned on her bedroom light. Her navy blue silk sheets laid in the position she left them early this morning. Normally making the bed was something she did first thing in the mornings, but time sped by too fast for her to get to it before work.
She leaned up against the door starring at it. She didn’t want to go near that bed again night after night by herself. Morgan was thirty two and had never brought anyone into her bed. Not a virgin, but since she had been in her new house on Willow Lane for two years she hadn’t brought anyone inside her bedroom.
She closed her eyes and opened them again as to get a fresh look at the room. There sitting on her nightstand was her bible. The one she just bought for herself almost a year ago. She had five different ones, but had given them away to various people whom she felt needed them. She thought about reading a chapter then decided against it.
Morgan couldn’t fight it anymore, she had to lay down. Putting on a t-shirt she looked at herself in the mirror and couldn’t believe how her new makeup had stayed on so well without a touch up. She washed her face and laid down in her bed curling up on her side, then reached over to position her pillows making a line beside her and she hugged them.
Thinking about church in the morning made her uneasy. She thought of reasons she could tell her friends and family why she wasn’t going to make it. But she would be there.
She needed to go. Rell would be there. It would be another opportunity for her to see him. Plus she had nursery duty. She wouldn’t miss a chance to spend time with his children. His wife would be there too. Morgan pictured his wifes long brown hair being curled and flowing down her back as she smiled so big holding onto Rells arm.
Morgan whispered out loud to herself as she closed her eyes.
“Go to sleep Morgan. You have him. Go to sleep.”
