Chapter one
It was the beginning of another relationship for Morgan. Even though Rell and her had been seeing each other as friends for almost four months. Tonight would be the beginning. Her eyes looked past Rell watching a baseball game on the tv at a local pub.
Rell got her attention as he reached down and turned up the last drink of his beer before slamming the glass bottle down on the table and sitting back like he accomplished something important.
Her short blonde wavy hair was one of Morgan’s best features. She pushed the loose curls away from her face with both hands. Moving her hands to pull up her sleeves on her arms. She was going in….in where she had no place going into to.
“So where do we stand?” Wasting not another minute Morgan came right out and asked.
He left his comfortable position to lean forward putting both hands together like he was praying his forearms rested on the table.
“I’d say …we stand…together. Yes, let’s stand together.” He laughed at himself.
She had no time for jokes if this was what he was doing.
“We are together then? Us. You and me. Together?” She refolded the napkin in her lap and smoothed it back over her legs as to let him know his statement had no effect on her.
But it did. She liked Rell. She liked almost everything about him. His hair, his eyes, his charming smile…but there was that one thing that sat in her heart about him that she had trouble with.
“I said let’s stand together! You do something to me Morgan. I can’t quite understand it yet, but I’ll figure it out. For the meantime, I want you to know that you are very important to me. I don’t want to loose you. I feel like you understand me. You see me.” Rell looked deep in her brown eyes and the stare lasted for a good ten seconds until the waitress stopped to bring Rell another beer.
“Thanks. You’re right on time.” His left eye winked at the waitress as she continued on. Was he flirting with the waitress? Is he drunk?
What am I doing here with him? She questioned herself.
“And you are right on time, Morgan. You have entered my life right on time. I can feel it!” He reached across the table grabbing her petite hands, caressing them.
Her heart didn’t skip any beats but her mind shifted gears. He does want me she thought.
Right when she felt like they were about to have some sort of serious discussion, a long due one at that, his phone rang.
He didn’t hesitate to answer it.
“Heelloo!” He shouted.
“Yep.”
Morgan watched him answer questions so casually. He leaned back again as if he was being annoyed.
“ I know. I’ll grab some when I leave the pub….I’ll be there soon.”
Morgan suddenly wished the wine hadn’t been so good so she wouldn’t have drank so much.
Rell laid the phone down on the table and smiled again.
“Together” he said raising his eyebrows aiming them straight for her.
“Who was that?” Morgan asked.
“That Morgan…., was my wife” He sang.
Her heart sank as he didn’t seem to be shook up at all that he was there with her and neglecting his wife and mother of his children.
Morgan put her napkin on the table and leaned forward to Rell ignoring everyone around her.
She touched her lips softly with his…He leaned in for her.
“Together” she whispered.
