 Stake Conference talk at church
We had stake conference today at church, which was awesome!

There was this awesome talk given this morning about healing from injury, such as abuse.  I suffered a short period of abuse in my life, so this talk really struck home.  I'm not trying to preach, just to get this out there in case anyone wants to read it.

He talked about the fact that we CHOOSE how to react to injury.  We all have free agency, so use it!  The time to heal is NOW!  Rise above, move forward.  Choose to be a victor, not a victim, and seek help from the priesthood or a professional if needed.  But, most of all, use the power of the atonement to heal.  The Savior knows the pain we are going through.

In the Book of Mormon, Alma 7: 11-12, it says

11  And [Jesus] shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12  And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people to their infirmities

In Doctrine and Covenants Section 104: 82, it says

And inasmuch as ye are humble and faithful and call upon my name, behold I will give you the victory.

It is through the Savior, Jesus Christ, that all our spiritual and emotional afflictions can begin to heal.  Seek professional help if you need it, but the way I've begun to heal is through the Gospel and the Savior.  These things have made a profound impact on my life.  My life  is better because of them.

My bipolar is either becoming less prominent or I'm handling it better, I'm having far less panic attacks, I'm doing better in school that I've ever done before, my self-confidence and self-worth have increased dramatically, I'm making a lot more friends, and my personal relationships are much better than they were.  I feel that I am a better person now than I was a year ago, before I first started hearing the missionary lessons.  I feel at peace in a way I never have before.  It is the most wonderful feeling I've ever felt in my life.

I feel truly free.
