 Love
I've been reading in my conference Ensign again.  I just can't get enough!  Anyway, I just read a talk given by President Uchtdorf about love.

President Uchtdorf was talking about what characteristics we, as Mormons, are known for.  He lists a few common things such as we go to church for three hours every Sunday and that everyone is a brother or a sister.

He goes on to state that the defining characteristic of a disciple of Christ should be love.  The most important commandment, stated by Jesus when asked, was to love God.  He then went on to say that the next greatest commandment was to love one another.

There is a song that is sung in my church called "Trying to be Like Jesus" and these are the lyrics:

I'm trying to be like Jesus,
I'm following in His ways.
I'm trying to love as He did,
In all that I do and say.
At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice,
But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers,
"Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught."
I'm trying to love my neighbor,
I'm learning to serve my friends.
I watch for the day of gladness
When Jesus will come again.
I try to remember the lessons He taught.
Then the Holy Spirit enters my thoughts, saying:
"Love one another as Jesus loves you.
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught."

It is a beautiful song.  We should all be like Jesus, but isn't that the point?  Love each other and we show our love for Him.  In Matthew 25:35-40 it says:
"When we saw thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
"When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked and clothed thee?
"Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my bretheren, ye have done it unto me."

Therefore, if we love one another, we are a true disciple of Christ.  President Uchtdorf said, "Love is the guiding light that illuminates the disciple's path and fills our daily walk with life, meaning, and wonder.  Love is the measure of our faith, the inspiration for our obedience, and the true altitude of our discipleship.  Love is the way of the disciple."

Love is the most powerful feeling.  I feel it in my bones.  It permeates every cell in my body.  Fear is another powerful emotion, but love can overpower it.  I've experienced situations in which this has occurred many, many times.

Love is the basis for everything positive in our lives.  It should permeate every aspect of our lives.  It didn't used to in my life.  Now that it permeates most aspects of my life (I'm not perfect), I have a more satisfying life.  I don't get as angry, and I don't have as many problems with my bipolar disorder, and when I do have problems, they are manageable in situations where they wouldn't be before.  Love is powerful.  We all need to have some aspect of it in our lives.

Be a true disciple.  Have the courage to love others, and tell them how you feel.  Keep the lines of communication open, with love, and you will have many blessings coming your way.
