| Update on me - Sick kid :(
|

Hailey has been pretty sick lately.
It started out with a cough that she's had I don't know about 2 or so weeks. I didn't really think much of it, chalked it up to the change of weather - allergies. Well last Wednesday I get a call from Daycare saying I need to come get Hailey she had a temp of 102. So I leave work, go get her. I give her a cool bath and some Tylenol to break the fever. The entire time she's still playing - not really eating but she's playing, laughing and youd never even know she was sick. So Thursday morning I get her up, she doesn't have a temp - I take her to daycare. I called at 9 am to check on her (like always) and she's fine, playing with the kids... blah blah blah. So I call again at 2:30 (like always) and the director said she was just about to call me. She said she had Hailey on her lap and her temp was 102.8. I leave work and head to daycare to get her. I call the dr's office to set up an apt and I get one for Friday. Dh is going to stay home with her. Well I get Hailey home and her temp climbs... we're at 103.5... I call the ped office again. I tell her nurse what's going on and she wants me to bring Hailey in right then. I do. We get there, and my poor kid has a SEVERE ear infection in her left ear and her right ear is infected but not as bad as the left. She also has "a touch of pneumonia". So we got Augmentin ES and now my daughter isn't eating and her stomach is so messed up. She has pooped out of 6 of her outfits. I actually had to put her in a diaper because her pull ups just weren't holding everything in. She cried soooooo hard when she saw me pull out the diapers. She kept saying, NO mommy I sorry I sorry, no diaper please. Just thinking about it makes me teary eyed. My heart just breaks for her. She is still playing, running around like she isn't sick - but she also isn't really eating anymore. So between her lack of appetite and the constant pooping (which is normal, I called the ped again) she's lost 2 lbs. We're now back at 25.8 lbs.
I feel so bad because she had the cough for so long and I just blew it off as if it were just allergy related.
I'm at work waiting for the phone to ring for me to go pick Hailey up.

Whitters - my master 5 was prone to ear infections when he was around 2 years old. Same thing he seemed great, then he'd have a fever and crash for awhile then he'd be on the go again.
This would happen frequently - it seemed he'd get the ear infections, my daughter the throat infections.
Don't feel bad - you're a great Mum (mom) and ear infections hide themselves well. Sounds like Hayley is a very happy little girl - that's so nice to read. I hope she's getting better :)

As long as you keep up her fluids you are doing the best thing, try a hydrolite type drink to keep her electrolites up..Even some diluted juice will help in small doses.
And lots of hugs

Thanks you guys.
She's doing ok with the drinking - though she's really not even doing that... but I have been pushing the liquids.

Hey Whit don't feel bad. Kaylie got a stomach flu a few years ago and got diarrhea, I didn't think anything of it just kept giving her pedialyte. Well it ended up landing her in the hospital for 3 days. I started crying when the er doc told me how dehydrated she was, he told me that little kids can get bad overnight but they rebound really quickly. Your not a bad mommy, they just teach us not to over-react.
I do hope she gets better really quickly

Oh-poor baby :( How were you to know she had all that going on? You are a wonderful mother, I only hope that someday I am half as good at parenting as you are.

Poor Hailey! Hope she feels much better today!
Ear infections are so hard to figure out. My grandson is prone to them.
Does she like popsicles? We keep those in his hands all the time.
Hugs and hope the little one is feeling great soon!
