 Fall
Autumn of the year
green to red, yellow and gold
glistening with dew

Summer is behind
the long days grow shorter now
chill is in the air

Winter comes again
barren will be tree and bough
gray skies all around

Spring is far away
rebirth of natures beauty
life begins anew

Fall, nature at rest
toil of growing ebbs away
ere she sleeps again

Very good. I always find having to count the syllables somehow gets in the way.

Given that this is one of very, very few times I've attempted it, I have to agree it is a distraction.

Thank you.

Lovely, the rhythm is perfect.

Thank you Circe. I have not attempted Haiku since 5th grade (a LONG time ago). I had a Japanese teacher that was absolutely amazing. She taught us not only about the Culture, but to speak a smattering of Japanese, as well as a bit of Haiku.

Thank you my dear! I had fun giving it a go!

OH how I envy those who are able to write a Haiku!
I think I did it in high school once...
I feel the same way, the earth prepares to rest for the winter. Although, Florida provides a significant challenge to see it that way!
Good stuff coffee!
:)

Thank you dear Lady. First attempt at Haiku, and I spent more time counting syllables than writing!

"ere she sleeps again"

How do we seem to just know she is a she?

Excellent....

Gentle as a summer breeze but capable of unmatched fury? HAHA (hope my wife doesn't read this).

Thank you E!

You captured all four seasons very nicely, well done!

Coffee! You just do everything with such style, grace and beauty...Another one hit out of the park! (sorry about the baseball reference...I'm stuck in the Series!).

Let me guess, Yankees fan?

Thank you dear one. Any style, grace or beauty comes from my association with the unabashed talent of people like you!

Excellent, the sparse style of Haiku ends itself to the nature of this time of year.

That's an aspect I hadn't considered, but you are spot on with the observation! Thank you!

I like the spartan nature of haiku, also. Must be the minimalist in me. Lovely.
