Not many people are aware that I went into the bathroom at Walmart the other day and was met by an angel. The angel gave me a great deal of advice, which I memorized. It (not sure if an angel is male or female, but I WAS SURE it was an angel) also gave me a set of platinum tablets that were inscribed with instructions for the human race by god. Well, if truth be told, I lost those damn tablets! However, I did remember everything I was told and what was written down and as soon as I find a few followers I will relate to them what the angel told me. Ultimately they can write all this down and we'll have a doctrine. BTW, anyone who doesn't believe that all this happened is in deep, deep trouble. They will certainly go to hell and may have to be killed outright.
Another thing thing I found out (the angel told me!) is that I am the Son of God. Apparently my mother was not completely straightforward with my father and had a few trysts, one of whom was a mysterious stranger that was, in her words, "angelic". It doesn't really bode well for me because the angel told me that few will believe anything that I say and eventually I will have a painful end. Ouch!

I am not an atheist nor do I clearly you know what I believe, but I have looked into many different religious beliefs. Clearly you havent even read the Bible and if so failed to include the entire premise of it and even futher made an uneducated arguement about atheism. I appreciate your modern version of the recieving of the tablets but if you would like to make a public denouncement of God, at least make a significant arguement rather than drape a blog in sarcasm. Thanks.
pls lurn to spel. punctuation is good to! Good grammar can also assist in making your argument not only plausible, but interesting as well. Yes, my comments were "draped in sarcasm" to some extent, but most would say the covering was scant indeed. Far better thinkers than I have beat the significant argument side pretty much to death.
You need to know that the reference to tablets has nothing to do with the Bible, I was after Joe Smith and his Mormon buddies. The point is that anyone can go into the woods (or the bathroom at Walmart), say they saw an angel and the angel told them what to do, as per, of course, instructions from a deity. For chrissake, think about it.
I will admit that Judaism and Christianity have something of a leg up--I can't see spending that much time in the john in order to write a text as lengthy as the Bible, but the concept is the same. You consistently refer back to the Bible; i.e, the Bible is God's word! Why? Because it says so in the Bible.
Wait! Wow, I blacked out for a moment. God spoke to me! Please, forgive me, I was really a stupid atheist. Now I have seen the light. In that brief moment God DL'd his instructions down into my brain. As soon as I write them all down I will send you a copy and you can begin to live in the way God intended.
Thank you for your honesty and, I might add, a Christian response to the anti-religion discussion in this blog. Many atheists are religious in the sense that they consider atheism to be a religion. They are troubled souls (even though I don't believe in souls, I speak metaphorically) and must recruit others into their religion of disbelief--it is more pathetic than evangelicals seeking converts.
If you have a belief you should revel in it and be happy, as it seems you are doing. If anyone can shake your faith, then you never had much to begin with. If someone can cause you to lose sight of why you believe, to act against the tenets of your faith, to adjust your faith to fit some sort of contrived social more, then again there was not much there to begin with.
You have taken the Kierkegaardian Leap of Faith and I say bravo to you!
Nevertheless, do not be so smug as to think that your way of not fearing death is the only way. I have no fear of death other than the fact that I am not anxious to go anytime soon. However, when the time comes I will plan my death as I have no fear of a deity being unhappy with the fact that I took my own life. I have a load of things on my bucket list (isn't it astonishing how quick we pick up on media idioms?) and have no immediate plans--a few decades at least--to make plans. When I am old, feeble, and dependent I will go and go (somewhat) gracefully.
As it has become my recent fancy to learn the history of the supreme court, it has occurred to me that the Constitution leaves no room for atheism(obviously because of the time period in which it was written) and provides no civil liberties concerning it. It amazes me how our whole country can be monotheistic while many of our nation do not even attend church, and it is my concern that even our youth are subjugated to such things as "a moment of silence" and "the under God phrase", obviously pertaining to parochial ideas.
It seems to me that, we, The United States, is destined to become the Greece, Egypt, and Ancient Rome, the predominant religion becoming another mythology that the ignorant gawk at. It also seems that Atheism and Agnosticism are growing and monotheistic religions are dying out. Do you share these same ideas?
Bless your religion for it shows how deep inside you are hidden. No need for heaven or hell places of pleasure or torment. Dust and dirt are your fill. On that day you leave you shall have your truth and as that light hits you for the last time remember from dust you came from dust you return. If any unseen miracle should happen and you find a spirit it is granted to all that you wish not to go one to another life. Bless your religion it is truly deep.....
Thank you, honesty is appreciated here since there is so little of it today. As Vladimir has pointed out, it seems like atheism and agnosticism are growing as people ask "Where are the miracles?!" and "Where is god?". Yes, I realize you found god, but it isn't real and touchable, just in your mind. So, as long as you keep it there, enjoy!
