Has anyone heard of the 100-0 game ... involving a team of "special needs" children vs. a team of "normal" children ... in which a whole game was played without the special needs children scoring one point in which the end result was a score of 0 for the special needs children ...
Normally I would leave stories like this alone ... my opinion on this is very different from society because of my heart condition and I think the game should have been stopped ...
Trust me "normal" people you can have your silly WIN ...
but I do think that the children {THEY ARE CHILDREN DANGIT} should have just been able to play around ... maybe mix the teams or something so that everyone could have FUN without feeling like a total WINNER or LOSER ...
The reason I'm writing is because of the REACTION I've seen either on the radio/online because one person said ...
Look you aren't "normal" and you are going to be 100% behind most of your life so you should just deal with it ... the world doesn't stop because you are handicapped
I was so thrown and blown by the ignorance of this person ... look have you never had something happen that you wish the world would stop for ... okay maybe a disabled person ride is longer or fight is different but when are we going to realize being different is RELATIVE for every person ...
NO ONE LIKES TO FEEL SINGLED OUT OR DIFFERENT ... we all want to feel a part of something ... so why would it be so hard for "normal" people to understand why the REALITY OF NEVER BEING NORMAL wouldn't have a great affect/effect on your life as an individual ...
I'm very different from most 26 year olds ... I want to LIVE ... I don't hate the rain cause it will ruin my hair ... because once in my life I hoped to see rain agian ... I don't ever get upset being stuck in traffic ... at least I'm driving ... see I look at life is such a light that at some points when I encounter the ignorance of being normal it pains me ... not for me or for every other handicapped person you encounter but for you because you miss the fact that you aren't perfect either ... you may not show anything on the outside or your brain may work perfectly but let's fact it everyone has PROBLEMS ... and if instead of letting them keep us apart we should make them bring us together ...
I just don't think the score of 100-0 is necessary and I blame both coaches for not just being human beings and realizing that these kids (on both sides) could learn a great lesson in compassion for the other person ...
You just have to realize that 100-0 is already pretty much the way the world views a person who is disabled ... the truth is ... we work our butts off to be as "normal" as possible only to become adults and learn that no one is normal ... everyone has something they wish they could change, not repeat, do again, get rid of, and etc ... but if everyone could realize that one thing makes us more alike than all our differences ... the world would be a better place for all children!
