Lord, God, my heavenly Father, at the beginning of this new day I ask You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit and the gift of a new spirit.  As You have granted me protection from all danger through the night, be merciful to me and continue through the day to guard and keep me from every evil of body and soul, property and honor.
Open my eyes to every opportunity to do good, for You have created me in Christ Jesus to do good works and have appointed in advance that I should walk in them.  Give me faithfulness for every task set before me, and grant me grace to serve all people as I would serve You my Lord.
Help me to live this day as though Jesus died yesterday, arose today, and were coming back tomorrow.  Let His Cross be my glory and His favor my crown.  Let his return to Judgment not frighten me but stimulate me to earnest attention to my faith and to faithfulness to Him.
Grant me enough success today to be encouraged and enough difficulties to be humbled.  Give me strength to overcome when I am tempted to do wrong and to seize my opportunities to do good.
