Today began in a quite promising fashion. After morning ablutions and my bread and jam breakfast. I sat at the Hungarian laptop and then a call came in. The phone was handed to me because szerena's mom who answered it speaks neither Greek nor English. The man on the other end then began to explain that he was calling in regard to a B.A. passenger's luggage. God be praised! He asked for my address and said he would be here within 2 hours. This was fantastic news: best since I arrived! So, automatically elated and energized I began my 2nd tutoring lesson. Today's topic: shopping for clothes! How apropos. As per usual I copied photos from the web to aid teaching / comprehension. Old Navy was the site of choice and it afforded me more than enough images to discuss articles of clothing and a good range of colours. Mid lesson the phone rang again and my prince charming (of Swiss air) was downstairs with my 32kilo suitcase. {The bag had an airport tag that read, “HEAVY. Over 23kilos. Assisted lift may be required - bend your knees” I mean my bag was so heavy they had to instruct the porters on how to move it} The porter said that I should ring BA regarding the H&M clothing cost coverage. Well, I was now set and quite happy. I lugged it upstairs and into my bedroom and proceeded to unpack. I used my own clothes as examples of colors and styles and we described the life out of my belongings. As it turns out I totally over packed in an almost sick kinda way. I packed more clothes than Szerena owns. That is a crime. However, I am a fashionista and I intend to rock the heck out of this wardrobe while here.

Better than being able to wear what I want, is the fact that I got my plug converter therefore allowing me to resuscitate my laptop: now I can listen to music, email like a psycho, e-chat, at all hours, write my tales and keep this 100% narcissistic blog of my ramblings.

So the lesson continued in a very fun and animated way. Then we took a lunch break. I went to the bank and was told that I cannot deposit my money in HSBC because I haven’t a Greek bank account. I told them that I have an American HSBC acct - but apparently there are laws that prohibit me from saving money while abroad. And it turns out that Janos cannot cut me a cheque, so I’m stuck running about Athens with hundreds of Euros like I robbed a bank. I can rob a bank - I just can’t make a deposit. Upside down if you ask me!

I returned to the apartment and was met by lunch: soup. But wait this was soup similar to what my mommy makes for meJ. Thin with fine noodles and carrots; nada mas! It was great. It was so good I had seconds. This made my Hungarian mom very happy (I think she pegged me as another American with an eating disorder) then as I forgot to pace myself the soup was removed and the meal was brought forth. SPINACH. Not surprisingly it was not what I expected but it was good. It was some sort of pureed spinach and the staple: bread. (There isn’t a meal that is had without bread; even if there is another starch already). I couldn’t eat as much as she or I hoped because I had been a bit too zealous with the soup. Nonetheless, the creamy spinach thing was a hit and she was probably more thrilled than I. She asked me if I was OK with having it for dinner too. Not a problem! And so I had it for dinner with perhaps the best tasting sausage I have ever had and bread.

Part two of the lesson was related to clothing in that it was regarding the parts of the body. Szerena and her mother are both biologically minded and this made the lesson interesting as they were able to give the scientific / medical names for most of the (inner) body parts and we were all proud of ourselves! J

Then Janos came home and we showed off a bit of what she had learned today and then the lesson was over. (Approx. 5 hours total today)

The rest of the evening I spent doing what I do best: talking. Emailing and instant messaging with my homies back in the U.S.!

And so when the halfway house closed down for the night (22:55) I took my notebook to bed and continued editing and dishing.

The telephone rang at about 23:45 Greek time (16:45 NYC) I was dreading that it was one of my friends calling to give me some love and mistakenly waking the household. The call was answered but no one came to get me. (?) Who was it? I have no idea. Perhaps I am fooling myself – like my friends would call me! Bunch of so and sos. LOVE YALL
