 Zodiac Signs
I would like to know people's opinions on the zodiac signs.

I have been researching them more, for no reason in particular that is just how I am. I enjoy researching things, it makes life a little less boring, keeps my brain ticking and thinking as opposed to rotting in my skull. I digress.

I used to think the horoscopes/zodiac signs were absolute crap. I thought, "how is that possible that is true?" and while I still think that, for the most part, about daily horoscopes, I am not so sure about the actual Zodiac Signs.

For example, my zodiac sign is a Pisces. According to the zodiac distinct traits of Pisces are: shy, romantic, trustworthy, aloof, dreamy, creative, understanding, unrealistic, intuitive, and impractical. Things Pisces typically like are: romance, nature, ambient music, poetry, mystical settings, being loved, freedom and privacy. Things we supposedly don't like are: Noise, crowds, dirt & ugliness, garish objects, being reminded, tight spaces, authority, revealing of private life.

Ok...so that is a general description of course. There are several of the above things that I personally, am not. Shy would be one of them. Trustworthy? I am wondering, does that mean I am supposedly trustworthy or that I trust people easily? I am thinking if it means the first, then that's true, but if it's the second, then definitely not. the rest....everything else, dead on.

Then things get even more complex. I am no expert so please correct me if I am wrong. But then there is this thing called your "Rising Sign", which is basically what you portray to the rest of the world. There is also your "Moon Sign". Your regular sign is called your "Sun Sign" If you want to know yours you can go here and get a free chart (comon, it's interesting!).

My rising sign is an Aries and my Moon sign is a Libra.

Anyway, I am just wondering what people's thoughts about this are. By no means am I taking this so seriously that I am going to base my life off of it. However, I do think it's something very interesting to know about people. Almost like a personality test, it reveals a little light on how the person works. Just something fun! So, come on, share!

I'm Cancer... caring and giving but calm and steady. Very emotional and sensitive, you have an intuitive understanding of the "vibes" around you. You tend to be quite generous, giving, loving and caring.

hmmmm.... I wonder if this thing needs calibration? lol. thank you for sharing the post, veg. loved it. stone

Ian - haha you always manage to make me laugh. I think it fits you well! ;-) You just have a tough shell.

Ghost - awesome! Do you think that fits you fairly well? I tend to get along well with Aquarius peeps. The friendly/humanitarian bit usually sucks me in haha.

Cass, I'm with you, Zodiac, Numerology all those spiritual things intrigue me. My auntie who unfortunately has no contact with my family anymore is right into all this, and used to keep me captivated for hours talking about it. Recently I caught up with her again just for a short while and she suggested I read up on Numerology ... so there you go .. I'll be that will drive you crazy now too?

Yay, now I have another reason to like brainfreeze:P I think.

FINALLY a post I can sink my teeth into:P Since I have done much of this research already.

Ok, basics...Sun sign..is your birth nature sign...it is how you were made and your core reflexes.

Moon sign is your unseen emotional sign. Also the way you evolve from youth to old age. You may see a change or none at all. For instance, you're sun is Pisces with a Libra moon. That means you will grow less emotional as you get older and be more of a chatty, busy head. Your emotional "nature" is tamed by the libra moon.

Rising sign...yea, you had the gist of it. The side you show others(but Mars sign is ALSO related to how you behave/appear in public). It is also a theory that rising sign is the sign you ascend into...in other words, when you are near death, you may take on that sign as your afterlife nature. Just a theory. But, rising sign affects how people see you...so as an Aries rising, you are seen as a daring, impulsive person. Not quite a sensitive, moody pisces.

And, yes, daily horoscopes are often innaccurate as they are based soley on sun signs. They will appear more accurate, usually, the closer you get to your birthday or any time a like element time is present. For example, being a pisces, you would find horoscopes more accurate during the times for Scorpio and "Krabulus" as I prefer to call it(not a disease name), both water signs like Pisces.

Lola - glad you enjoyed it! I found it to be really fun and interesting as well! More research to be done still...

hearx - my mom is a Taurus and it fits her to a T. If you are similar then I would love you! HAHA she is an amazing and very generous, giving woman.

Azalia - What does the "ides of March" mean? And yes, time of birth is what determines all your chart things, like the rising and moon sign as well as the planet alignments and such.

EZ - oh that is so awesome! I have been chatting with marathongal a lot about both numerology and zodiac stuff, it is incredible!

brain freeze - Glad you enjoyed it! It seems most people have the same thoughts...that it fits them very well!

Brainstormer- WOW!!! Thank you!! That is excellent, I love it! Where did you do a lot of your research? Are there books you recommend?

Jaded - :D I could see that!

sorry kiddo- can't go there- i think astrologers are more like psychologists- they know human nature...

well, I started to study astrology when I was 12 and my best friend's mom gave me a book, which I still have, called "Sun Signs" by Linda Goodman. it's sort of the classic book on basic sun signs that most people who read about that stuff know and love, she was a great lady. And I like her take on it; astrology is not about limiting or defining a person, it's about the energetic fingerprint that the exact time and place of our first breath has made upon us (some say by choice beforehand) and gives us both an idea of our own strengths and a way of understanding the people in our lives from a different perspective. And when used as a tool for understanding, it has limitless value. I don't like being reduced to labels or stereotypes, but I've never viewed or used it that way. And as for it being bunk, I had a classmate who was amazing; she could talk to someone for a little while and was ridiculously accurate in knowing not just their sun signs, but their rising, moon, venus, mercury, mars, etc. we tested her out all the time because it blew us all away. She'd tell us what she was picking up on, we'd run the chart online and she was about 98% right on. The odds of that happening by pure chance are astronomical. With 12 options for every planet, she wasn't just guessing. So it's a really interesting field and at the very least it's fun to explore, even if you don't believe in the concept. Personally, it's changed my life in such lovely ways, allowing me to understand people's different paths and beautiful qualities even when we clash.

I have a post I wrote a while back on Astrology. Actually, there may be two. Look back in Feb. and March of 2008 in my posts. I know I wrote something for Chinese New Year. There should be some book recommendations there...otherwise there's a post in the Forums under Astronomy.

Oh, and I started my research in 2001 thanks to my first online chat contact. I gradually have collected about 22 books on both Western and Chinese with lil mentions of face and hand reading, etc. Not that I've fully read them all:P But, each is in its own way interesting. A few may be more like duds, though. I was a bit impulsive compiling books at times. I didn't take time to read much at the stores. I have a hard time doing much of anything mentally focussed in public:P

I am Taurus, but this surprised me on the site you gave us, what it showed me when I filled the blank spaces:

Quote: For your entire generation, society's cherished beliefs and totems will be radically changed. Many traditional concepts will be totally altered, if not completely destroyed. The rights of individuals to pursue their own course in life will be reasserted.
