Chapter 1-Starting Out
The K.O.F campus was huge. Kasumi Todo was new, so she was amazed to see the number of students scattered on the large lawn, and even more amazed to see it was a coed school. She was seventeen, with long blue hair, and a skill she assumed most here already had.
The K.O.F campus was built for one reason: fighting. K.O.F stood for ‘King of Fighters’ and it was a tournament that young and old fighters from around the world came to take part of. Its arena was in the very middle, and was big, for it sat almost twelve thousand. Kasumi turned in a circle taking in the scenery when three girls approached her.
The girl leading had short purple hair, with a pink headband in it. Her clothes matched the headband in color. She was smiling happily. On her left, was a little girl, who seemed to be no older than ten. She had short brown hair, with a yellow cap and her clothes too matched her cap. She was also happy to see Kasumi. However, the remaining girl scowled. She had army green clothes on, and her hair was deep blue, held up by a hidden hair tie.
“Hi, I’m Athena. This is Bao, and this is Leona.”
“Kasumi Todo. So, this is the K.O.F campus?”
“Yep. Come on, I’ll show you around.” Athena led Kasumi towards the arena. When they got there, it was full of people training. Most of them men. A group of men 8caught Kasumi’s eye.
“Who are they?” She asked with a small smile as she and Athena sat down.
Athena cast them a quick glance. “Oh. The guy with the blue jacket is Shingo, he’s been following Kyo around religiously because he’s his student of sorts. Kyo’s in the white jacket, a good guy, but he can be a bastard if he wants. And the man is the orange is Ryo. He’s a handful in the battlefields, but he’s a nice guy too. And last but not least is tall, dark, and impossible himself.”
“Who?”
“His name is K. He’s turned just about every girl here down more than once. Except me that is, because I haven’t attempted to ask him out. I’m happy with Kensou.”
A man sat behind Athena and put his hands over her eyes. “Guess who?”
“Kensou!” Athena turned with a bigger smile than she had on before and he bent down and gave her a small kiss on the cheek.
“Who’s she?”
“Kasumi, new comer.” Kasumi said. Kensou nodded and looked at the group of guys, where Kasumi turned her attention to again. The man Kyo was getting into an argument (and it sounded very violent) with a new man who walked by them.
“Oh boy. Iori Yagami has done it again.” Athena said. “He and Kyo Kusanagi are rivals because of some blood thing generations ago. Probably because of the Orachi curse.”
“Leona’s got it too.” Kensou argued.
“Yeah, but she doesn’t go psycho at anyone like those two do. Iori’s also the most violent person on these grounds. But the ironic thing is, he detests violence.”
“Slick.” Kasumi said smirking as K pushed himself off of the wall to shut the two up.
