This is my first foray into the world of blogging. I love to write, yet doing so is excruciating, because to me, it is very personal, revealing my private thoughts, raw emotions, and beliefs.

I am an attorney. Obtaining a legal education not only changed my life, it also profoundly changed who I am. I detest practicing law. A sucker for hard luck stories, I found myself representing clients who either could not or would not compensate me for the work I did. Many were wonderful people who desperately needed legal assistance that they could not afford; some were lying scumbags, who believed they could lie, cheat, and steal my services. Opposing counsel often employed unethical, underhanded tactics to gain an advantage; judges made illogical, arbitrary decisions. Unable to earn a decent living practicing law, I pursued other career options for which my education would be an asset. Eventually, those pursuits also called upon me to compromise my integrity, a choice I declined. When I chose to take the just, righteous path, I became a pariah.

Although I continue to seek employment where my education and ethical standards will be valued by an employer, I am struggling. My age, 52, is an enormous handicap. It seems that despite the fact that I am well-educated, offer top-notch skills and experience, not to mention vast wisdom I have acquired from enduring and surmounting great adversity during my life, employers choose to hire the babies of boomers rather than the seasoned, mature baby boomers.

I have a great deal to say about my employment struggles, and the repercussions I predict will plague this country as a consequence of abandoning millions of middle-aged workers, who possess a wealth of talents, skills and acumen, in favor of the younger, less insightful generation. I am not disparaging the skills or abilities of younger workers; I am advocating for opportunities and recognition of what we baby boomers have to offer and instill in our younger counterparts.
