 MMA studies Part 1
Okay peeps, I realised that not many of you understand what MMA or UFC is, so allow me to school you. Firstly, lets start of with MMA, this stands for Mixed Martial Arts it is a combination of all hand to hand combat. The martial arts involved are: Boxing - stand up striking with hands.Muay Thai - stand up striking with hands, elbows, feet and knees. Wrestling - Takedowns including lifts and slams. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - ground fighting and submissions (including joint locks and chokes). Judo - throws from clinches.Karate - kicks. Kickboxing - hands strikes and kicks. MMA matches consist of highly trained athletes willing to take on the challenge of hand to hand combat. An MMA fighter must be will versed in the above martial arts. The fighter must also have outstanding cardio condition to compete effectively for the duration of a match. It must be stated that the fighters have respect for each other. Yes, there are a few feuds, but mostly the fighters know what it takes to acheive the level of a professional fighter and after every fight, the fighters embrace and show the true appreciation for the others commitment. Is MMA Barbaric? Absolutely not! Both participants willing accept the challenge. MMA is governed by rules and regulations. Fighters are given medical exams before they compete.Fighters are evaluated after the fight and are given medical suspensions if necessary. There are specific weight classes.A small pool of referees is used.Fights are stopped if a fighter can no longer intelligently defend themselves. The person on the bottom may actually have the advantage. This shows that Mixed Martial Arts competion is no where near barbaric. R.R. Thanks to the grackle for helping

Thank you!
Wow, I think I learned more in this blog than I ever did in school, you obviously know a lot about the studies, no one can argue with that, I've been to a few UFC fights, not many though. I always thought of them as quite brutal, but always thought it was cool in the end! Thanks for adding me, you seem really great too!
