 In A Room Of Millions

Living here, I have learned what being lonely and isolated really means, and how it really feels. I can stand in the middle of a crowd, and not one person will stop and say "hi." I could fall and be laying on the ground, bleeding, with a broken bone and not one person will stop to offer help. God, I hate that! What is wrong with aknowledging your fellow human being? Why can't people here stop and just ask someone how their day is going? Its like they can't be bothered, like you have the plague or something....and I hate it!

If you try and be friendly with them, and say "hello," they will look at you like you are crazy or gonna hurt them. They may nod their head or mumble something, but quickly they will look away and hurry off. I miss how it is back home, you can just meet some one for the first time and find out everything about them. Better yet, they are interested in you. They see you, thats what counts. I have never felt more alone than I do now...so isolated....like a ghost.

I want to run up to people and shake them, yelling at them to notice me, talk to me. But of course I don't.....if I did, I'd end up in the loony bin.  They are so reserved that they are damn near  cold. What is wrong with them? Why do they have to act like that?

What I wouldn't do for conversation, for human kindness, for warmth......
