If October 31st were ever considered in England during this last century-or-so it would have been to look at a pocket diary and comment 'Oh I see, it is 'All Souls' today, and then go back to the crossword.
"Halloween" in it's presant form has been manipulated back across the Atlantic by business men with an eye for the [dare I say] 'Fast Buck.'
Granted it was developed by the Church to encorage pagons to celibrate a feast of some form on that day, but it has only really been cultivated in Great Britain in the last 50 years.
It has about the same standing in reality as November 5th is related to Guy Faulks and the Gun Powder Plot.
And so if you seek reality and tradition then remeber 1st November, All Saints Day.
