 First Day of Ramadan

Well it is official now  ...... 1st day of Ramadan...... yaaaay   :)

and I feel like throwing up.. hahahahaaa...  I fell asleep without closing the window... so my tummy is upset again..... ( I am soooooooo smart)...    :)

I didnt even set the alarm ... to wake up before dawn  and have a snack.....I didnt even do extra prayers... I said I will start tomorrow... 1st day of ramadan.....but HE was merciful again.. and woke me up 25 minutes before dawn.. so I can eat........ I really dont deserve his kindness....

(and by HE I mean God.. although he is beyond simple human categories such as gender)

I had bought a CD for Mozart the other day.... Requiem... I love that kind of music...
but I thought in honour of it being Ramadan .......at work today... I will listen to Quran... which is also musical...

Different recitations have different musical notes... the reader doesnt really sing... there is no music.. except the music of his voice.... but the reading itself is musical.. and can be very nice and peacful....

I only have 3 guys so far that I like...
Al-Ajmi
Mishary Al-Afassy
(and I forgot the third guy's name)   :)

I used to listen to tapes for them, on the long train trips to and back from work.... they are very peacful.... and just shed away all the stress of your day....

Maybe I will post a file of my favourite....
if I can figure out how to do that......  :)
ofcourse  it may not mean much to those who dont know what he is saying.... but it is still nice....

At the prison where I work, we recognize Ramadan. We let the Ramadan inmates turnout for prayer when the sunrises and sunsets and we also serve a larger meal for them in the evening.

Hey lady... :)
havn't seen you in a while.... welcome back...

Yes I think they do that in all prisons...or at least they should, for all religions therein.... May Allah swt guide all the inmates...ameen.

You'll probably be seeing more of me now that I have two weeks of annual leave. I can spend more time visiting with everyone here. I'm all for that.

Where I work they prepare meals for the muslim students during Ramadan so that they can eat after dawn. I think it's very thoughtful even though the school has no religious affiliation. The students need to eat to keep up with their strength and studies, and shouldn't be penalized only because the kitchen closes at 8PM.
If you like Mozart also try the Seasons by Vivaldi.

worry

I remember HURDY GURDY GRRRR. Didn't the chef have an assistant, wasn't he called Bunson or was that another character? I was very fond of the Count.

You would be more than welcome to share my Mansaf, but I would wait until I've cooked it at least once so that I can make mistakes.

I have managed without cigarettes during the day. But I did find it hard. I found myself standing next to people who were smoking so I could breath in their smoke. cough... cough... cough...!

If I hadn't smoked, but saved the cost of 20 cigarettes each day from the day I started smoking, I would now be able to buy a three to four bedroom house in the South East of England. Now that's a lot of money! Trouble is that I have been smoking for 42 years and if I start saving now I will be 102 before I can buy that house.

I appreciate your prayers T. I will also pray for you. (Trouble with that is that I am not sure who or what is listening to me),I also worry that the answer to prayers may not always be what we want!! It is very difficult going without something as necessary as food during the day. Peace and may your God bless you.

Did you try your dates?

I am sooooooooooooooooo proud of you.. you made it through the first day... and you managed to figure out a genious way to help yourself... hehe..
smart...

Ah yes.. a house in England... I love the country there... so nice ... maybe we could all pitch in.. and get a big house.. and everybody gets a floor :)
and we can have a few chickens and a cow.. heheehehee.. and start living healthy!! :D
my dream...

well one of them... the other one would be to live in that tree house they have in Disney land... its huuuuge..and every room ahs tree branches going thru it.. its so cuuute... :)

God is listening to you.. doenst matter what name people give him... its the same God.

or if you prefer.. think of it.. as your Creator.. since the word God might rub some people the wrong way ...depending on what they have been exposed to...

Yes the answers dont always come as we asked... I think I heard its answered in 3 different ways...

- either he gives you what you ask becasue its good for you...

- or he doesnt because he knows it is not good for you now.... so he gives you what you need now... what you should get...

- or he saves it for you.. and gives it to you later, when the time is right...

- or he saves it for you.. to add it to your accumulated work at the end...

either way he knows best... :)
