 Save Thoughts.com, use Flag as Innappropriate
Hey man, I just learned something new. I mean I knew it was there but it never occurred to me to use it. That's the flag as inappropriate icon.

We have a lot of junk, spam and such, (now even porn!) being posted in our community.

I'm tempted to say there's always bad apples in the bunch and just live with it. But you know what? that icon has me convinced that we don't have to!

It's up to us to let Thoughts management know what we want in our community. Sure, it's up to management ot respond to us and do the clean up but if we just sit back and let these uselss wastes of skin ruin our community then it's our fault if it's taken over by spam and porn!

Do you really want to have to scroll post inteminable posts touting the benefits of a builder or trying to sell you some useless product? Don't we get enough of that in our inboxes and mailboxes? Do you really want to have to worry about whether or not your kids are around when you go to thoughts? I know I don't!

Now that it has gotten through my thick skull that I don't have to, that I can voice my opinion about what belongs here and what doesn't I'm going to! You bet your bottom dollar on that! I love this community, it's given me friends and support, even sanity, when I thought I had none.

I'm gonna open each of them frontline builder posts and flag them as innappropiate. I'm never gonna put up with a soul searing personal attack like the one on E2S again! Not without flagging it!

It's our responsibilty to help keep this place wholesome. I intend to do my part!

Bravo! I'm with you. It's democratic; they have the right to try to advertise here; I have the right to flag 'em. Thanks, Tony.

I so agree. They can try but it's up to us as a community to say we don't want 'em. Majority rules right? I'm starting now, gonna go through all them blogs and flag all of 'em that I think don't belong. Of course, I hope it's not just my opinion that decides, it needs to be a community decision.

What I saw this morning upon logging in was a real eye opener...good grief I didn't want to see that...I'm with you I'm not here for the ads or the occasional porn pop up ninnies...I'd prefer they just go away....I might start keeping a pair of dark sun glasses handy in case of emergency...I'll call them my thoughts shades.

LMAO! Pita you are such a ray of sunshine! It's up to us to make sure we let it be known we don't want that crap here in our community. Guess I can live with the occasional ad. But porn? Come on! I never had occasion to see the boobies you had trouble with, glad I didn't I get too many of them at home! ROFLMAO! (BP joke I guess. Or maybe just my sick head! Ask STL!)

Excellent question. And should they? Freedom of speech you know? Thin the community should rule. Vote, flag it as innapropriate.

I knew what you meant. e have no control over that. unfortunately it's up to the webmaster's to remove it. All we can do is vote.

Hey Tony,
Yes it's a good idea to use it, so long as it is for extreme stuff. Often the best way to deal with some of the 'trash' is to ignore it and walk away.

Hope you are well :)

I've walked away long enough. Time to reclaim our community. I'll be very careful about what I flag but obvisous spam, porn or oturight personal attacks are fare game. Until I learn a better way I'm gonna voice my opinion by flagging them! Guess they can flag me in return! It would probably serve me right!

EasyToSay - If we ignore it, we'll just get more of it ... others will think that it's accepted and add theirs to the site too.
I'm with you, Tony51203, somebody needs to know that we don't support this stuff.

Great! Let's let it be known! No more trash (ESPECIALLY PORN) on Thoughts! It's OUR community and we've gotta do what we can to keep it clean!

Posted by  Nutshell  on 2008-11-01 00:44:32

i think the porn belongs somewhere else. LMFAO - I am so frigging drunk! Went out to adelphia's and I'm wasted man!

what was it
what was it,
somebody tell me,
you are all talking about 'it' but what is or was it?
and is it gone? did someone make it go away and where did it go, and will it come back?
I ask a simple question
but no one will answer it

Lets just say a dog would have recognized the position. You're better off not seeing it. I think "they" finally got rid of it!

I just wish these idiots who think we need to see porn would actually read the terms of this site.
I quote
"All obscene, lewd, sexually explicit and exceedingly violent content should be reported as an "Inappropriate Entry", at which time it shall be removed if found to meet exclusion criteria.

PROHIBITED CONTENT
Thoughts.com reserves the right to take appropriate actions regarding prohibited content which include, but are not limited to, removing prohibited entries, terminating user's and accounts from which prohibited content originates and taking appropriate legal action when circumstances warrant doing so. Not limited to the provisions below, prohibited entries include content that:

promotes explicit hatred, racism or harm against any person or groups of people;
directly or indirectly harasses another person;
contains sexually explicit and violent material, including nudity, links to adult websites and any sexual or sexually violent exploitation of another person;
is used to solicit any personal details and contact information of minors under the age of eighteen;
solicits personal information, including account information, to be used for commercial purposes;
is of a commercial nature, including but not limited to sweepstakes, contests and pyramid schemes, and is used for unauthorized solicitations;
promotes illegal activities of any kind or is defamatory, injurious, indecent, intimidating, false and/or misleading;
is of a misleading and deceptive nature used with the intent, but not limited to, increasing exposure and drawing attention for self-promotion;
is sent in the form of spam, junk mail or other forms of mass, unsolicited mailings;
contains images of another person without proper consent from said person;
promotes the illegal use of copyrighted material and/or provides information on how to obtain pirated and illegal material of any kind;

Okay I will get off my soap box now

Thanks Tony and keep up flaging
