Well the phillies choked when it came down to the wire. I'm all ready hearing people saying Martinez just wasn't upi to it. Make no mistake, he didn't lose the game alone. It took the entire team to do it. While I agree that the ppitching in general wasn't upi to snuff, neither was the offense or the defense. Can you possibly forget that double steal? a 3 ring circus that's what the was. This team has had some truly great moments, sadly this wasn't one of them. Seemed like they only had one pitcher who could throw anything even near hard for the yank's to hit. They're saying they had nothing to be embarassed about. While that may be true, or may not, the end result is the same. They didn't even finish like champions. 7-3? Come one, they got their butss handed to them, again. This was a sad finish to a good year.
I'm at work now, trying to kill the last 1 1/2 hrs. It's been another slow day. I'm amazed by all of these slow days. What happened to the hectic, kinetic energy, stress filled days I'm used to? I don't know what's worse - slow days that go on forever or stressful ones that fly by. And it isn't that anyone's taking it easy on me. We just don't have that many requests any more. I keep saying it'll pick up, look out for when it does, but it hasn't shown any signs of doing so. I better watch my mouth or they'll be looking to get rid of someone then I'll be sorry.
Today's my last day this week. I had next Thursday and Friday off too but I moved Thursday to the following week. See, I took Thursday off to get out of a Dale Carnegie Graduates refresher class that they have every quarter. They scheduled this one back in January. Well while I was out over the summer the must have changed this one from the 12th to the 19th. Well they ain't getting me that easily. I changed my vacation day to the 19th.
Those Dale Carnegie sessions are all bull schitte anyway. How to win friends and influence people? How to get people to do what you need done? Come on, all of those principles are simply living as a mature adult in today's world. It's ridiculous. I can't even remember any of the principles now since I've put them all out of my head. When I took the course we had to do reports each week how we'd used those principles in our daily lives. I never, ever went out of my way to use a principle, instead I just reported on daily living. And I won 4 awards during the class! Imagine that! Tied for most awards in the class!
Let's see, what else is new? Oh I know, I may have mentioned this before (I don't remember) but it's supposed to be in the mid to upper 60's and sunny this Sunday. I'm gonna try and get out on the bike. It may very well be my last ride of the seaso so I don't want to waste it. Not sure where I'll go, probably just head in a given direction and make random turns to see where I end up but I've gotta get out. Gonna miss that baby all winter long
I've been getting very melancholy lately. Not really depressed, just sort of down. I keep thinking of what was and what could have been. Then I fight that back with what is and what will be. My mind and heart are tough things to control. They go where they want to when they want to go there. I know I shouldn't be thinking these kinds of thoughts but I just can't help it. I'm working on stopping them. God please don't let the wrong person know about them. In any event the make me very melancholy, as I said. As I am right now.
So, what's new world? Any good news out there? I could sure use some right about now.
