So agree. I hesitated to write it but someone had brought the subject up and my steam pressure sent the needle right to the limit before the valve worked.

Could you come over when some of my bother-in-laws are here? HAHAHA!! They seem to think that's their personal pet name for me. Hey, in-laws! It's 38 years and I'm not going anywhere. Get over it!!

Hi MC. It's alright if it is understood to be an endearment. If it is not, get two rolls of nickles, one for each hand, and show 'em how to get over it.

Hey Crimson, I've read some of your stuff and want you for a real world friend.
Wait a minute, you are tough on the ones you like too. Hmmmm. I'll take a chance.

Hear, hear.

You don't put much out there about yourself. I usually ignore people who don't say more about themselves. Had to read your posts though and it was worth it. Welcome anytime. As the Brits would say "Knock me up."

I am with you on that double standard. There are really no derogatory words to describe a man who is promiscuous. It always refers to his mother. My mother called overly active men - he hoes. and a few other choice words. I have never understood why a man is expected to sow his wild oats and yet expects to marry a virgin should there be any left. Good post.

"He Hoes!" Ha! LOVE IT.
Looked you up and was glad to find an old friend.
At boarding school didn't know any girls. At college I knew lots of them.
If I liked them I went after them with as much verve and swagger as I could
muster. And I expected the girls to have a like mindset.
DOWN WITH DOUBLE STANDARDS.

If it is not edifying, it should not be used by either sex. Just as racial slurs should not be used either inside or outside the race. No exceptions, no excuses. By the way, its just as uncomfortable to READ the words as it is to HEAR the words. Even if they are in others vocabulary, if they make you uncomfortable or irate then they should not be used by you at all. Just my female opinion.

Thinking about it, you are right, Heather. And I admit that I used it in the title for shock value to get people read my views on it. I am uncomfortable using the words even in quoting someone else. But it is more the double standard that I am against. Men can behave in that fashion and everyone winks at it, or ignores the behavior. With women it gets turned into an almost unforgivable sin.

In a marriage situation it is reasonably frowned upon. Among single adults I am a little more forgiving of it than most people would be and so am against that or any other derogatory term used in its place.

Both men and women need to have enough respect in themselves and each other to not use that kind of language or behave that way. It is not right for either sex to use it in any way. Its not attractive when men act that way towards women and it is not attractive when women use it towards each other.

In this day in age, integrity is lost and morals are considered things of the past. If you ask a lady what she truly wants nowadays, they tend to settle for what men give rather than demand better and expect better of them men who say they love them.

Bottom line really is that if we "accept" it and do not call our peers on it when it makes us uncomfortable, then nothing changes and the same uncomfortable words/actions continue. I applaud you for your stand on the words/actions that you have noticed and I should have told you that in my previous reply.

Actually, I guess you did say that in your previous reply, I managed to go right over it looking for your arguments. I should have been paying more attention.
