How do you know when your wiki is starting to go the way of wiki-doom or domination?
Watch for these signs:
- Forum baiting. Certain users just cannot stay out of the forums and leave bossy, demeaning, curt and poorly disguised messages; backdown is no option
- Denigrating the work of others. The perfectionist comes to town; the one who is always "right" no matter how the feelings of others get trampled. Order must be established according to the perfectionist or perish. This critic is, of course, holier-than-thou and will polish every word said, all the while undermining others.
- Nasty comments and just plain unacceptable nuances.
- One-up-manship. Taking away from others without asking because this person knows better.
- Abuse. Straight out abuse about the site's content, other users, quality of help etc.
- Shouting. Clear.
- Ultimatums. Clear.
- Site figurehead. The person who believes he or she is the site, no matter what.
