You can never get anything right on a wiki. Do you know why? Simple - because everybody will find fault. Here's how:

• You edit poorly - grammar, spelling etc. - immediately you are tainted
• You edit brilliantly - great grammar, flowing speech, the lot - immediately you are vilified by the green-eyed monster
• You motivate a lot - people hate being told what to do and ignore you
• You try to be peacemaker - people prefer being disgruntled so they ignore you
• You decide to "do your own thing" - others resent this and make thinly veiled snide remarks about "this new practice" that they hate, exposing it on the forums and making damned sure everyone knows who is the source of "this new practice"
• You decide to patrol the pants off recent changes - everybody lets you because nobody else wants to
• You decide to put a rationale and reasonable discussion on the forum - everybody hates rationale and reasonable - they turn it into a vehement all-out attack, airing their own opinions vociferously and losing the point in the process

Oh yes, wiki world is just fine. Delightful really. Has this happened to you? If so, take heart. It's the pressure of the masses pretending to be neutral and community-minded when the real rationale behind it all is personal aggrandizement, tearing down of tall poppies and squeaking the loudest.
