Sometimes you try to make wiki friends with the best of intentions. At other times you make strategic wiki alliances for one reason or another. Remember this: whatever reason you made wiki friends, the online world is a strange place and the pieces quickly fall apart when things are always in public. Even the most level-headed and average user can be drawn into a wiki whipping by a so-called wiki friend.
Heed the signs:
- Your "wiki-friend" has told others how &#$^@# you are - not just once but many times
- And then, the e-mails make it your way
- Your comments in the forums are attacked by your wiki-friend(s) - not once but several times
- Your wiki-friend publicly abuses you
- Your wiki-friend wants your friendship but only to ask that things get done
Look to the friends around you first. Your wiki friends may be nice but they are not solid. Be realistic in your expectations here. They probably feel the same worry about you.
