I know every time travel movie is fraught with loopholes and plot failings. The 3rd season of heroes is a prime example. Bu t I have a new one:
If you time travel, you are moving in time not space, so essentially you should stay at a fixed point in space. Now a fixed point in space is obviously relative. Relative to what? Your house, I think not, the earth, the sun, the Milky Way? No no, lets just assume you stay relative to the known universe (whatever that means). Ok, so if you aren’t moving, but the earth is, if you time travel ½ years into the past, you wont land up on your street, in front of your house half a year ago, you will land up floating in space on the other side of the sun, 292 million km from your house, (182 million miles), because the earth has made half of an orbit around the sun (in actual fact, the sun will have moved slightly as well and so will the milky way and everything else). I realize this is a pointless post, but it’s been on my mind lately.
(Also, if you time travel exactly ½ days into the future, you will land somewhere on the opposite side of the earth)
Think about it.
