I feel like everywhere I go I hear "Sorry".
Sorry:
sor·ry adj
1. feeling or expressing regret for an action that has upset or inconvenienced somebody, or for a similar future action
2. feeling or expressing sympathy or empathy, especially because of something that has happened
3. pitifully bad or neglected
4. pathetically or contemptibly unsatisfactory
interj
1. used as an apology for hurting, interrupting, or inconveniencing somebody
2. used with an interrogative inflection to ask somebody to repeat something (informal)
3. used to introduce a correction in speech
Now I understand that when you bump into someone on the street or in the store, you say "sorry". Now when you do something wrong to someone and you say sorry, that means you acknowledge your wrong doing and that you WONT do it again. So why does it happen over and over and over? Do people just not know this? or do they know and really aren't sorry?
I also find that people say sorry for little things like, if i drop my pen on the floor. I don't feel like there is a need to say sorry for that...or are we just over polite?
Maybe it's just me...maybe it's not. What do you think??
