What is the norm?
Is the norm people who are completely and utterly into themselves and their own feelings? Are they the ones that simply do something the way they think that everyone else would do it or does it like everyone else so that they can seem normal? I mean give me a break already. Who sets these standards for what the norm really actually is. I took Sociology last year in college, and I just don't seem to quite get that word the norm. We are all suppose to be individuals of our own selves and not others. I think back to when I was in High School (too many years ago...man I am getting old) and I see how there were all the sets of people. You had your kids that were so cool that you wouldn't dream of even talking to one because they would just laugh you away, then there were the ones that were just there. They were everyones friends. Lets not forget about the nerds, aren't those the ones that always helped ya on your homework when you couldn't figure it out, and yet they weren't "allowed" to even say hi to you in the halls for you would fear embarrassment for even knowing they existed? How about the kids that would be trouble. We all remember them. Back behind bleachers or behind the Auto shop building getting high during lunch. With all those and the many more groups that I have neglected to mention, only because there are so many different types of cliques, who is anyone to tell someone they are not of the norm. Yes, there are those people out there that are not NORMAL, but, in all, I bet they lead lives that appeared of the norm to everyone else around them except their victims.
With all that said, the next time someone wants to say OMG, look at that person acting like that, think back and remember to when you did something that wasn't normal to everyone else. We all have done something in our lives to make us stick out from the others in one way or another.
