We all have to stand for what we believe- even if it means not belittling ourself or lowering our values and standards.
Ethics and morals seem to be something that many people are lacking today- and honesty is an important part of morality.

Yes, our past does make us to be a stronger person. It also helps us to be more caring and sympathetic of others going through the same situations. And it allows us to be a support to others and let them know that change is possible.
